Thanks for the info Mike, I did just request it be moved.
Sounds good. Once it is moved I will leave a message with link for Niemiro.
Probably something he can help you fix.
Mike
avast caught this
00883500.exe
and this
jgayudklajb.exe
which was right after this problem started (and the problem was preceeded by a fake anti virus program suddenly running (acting as if it was scaaning. the the program was called "free antivirus"
now all scans report nothing found
May have messed with registry for Win Update.
Try a System Restore to a day or so before the fake AV running. It might just put things back in order.
Easy to try.

System Restore
NOTE: Be sure to temporarily disable your antivirus program first to prevent it from possibly preventing you from doing a system restore.
Never noticed the note before.
Fake anti virus, you should do a full scan with malwarebytes.
Malwarebytes
Malwarebytes is a good idea. Download the free. Install then update it then run full scan to be sure.
Leave it on the computer for future use. It is on demand so you run it when you want or need to.
I run it every 7-14 days as a just in case.
Never found anything that Avast missed but..... you never know.
If clean then try a System Restore.
Then we leave it to Niemiro if Sys Restore doesn't fix it.

Hello!
Try System Restore first. After that, we can dig deeper. Network related issues are always difficult to solve, as they don't really have an exact set of solutions, but I will do my best. Our other thing to go on is malware. Please also run MBAM as described above, and post the log here.
Thanks!
Richard
sys restore failed at 2 different restore points - see attached

In case it can't run, do this to restor MS's Hosts file....
Download the HostsXpert 4.3 - Hosts File Manager.
- Unzip HostsXpert 4.3 - Hosts File Manager to a convenient folder such as C:\HostsXpert
- Click HostsXpert.exe to Run HostsXpert 4.3 - Hosts File Manager from its new home
- Click "Make Hosts Writable?" in the upper right corner (If available).
- Click Restore Microsoft's Hosts file and then click OK.
- Click the X to exit the program.
- Note: If you were using a custom Hosts file you will need to replace any of those entries yourself.
Now try Eset again.
