I have a DELL Home Premium Disc with a COA. I also have an ASUS laptop with no disc, but the COA. Can I use the DELL disc with the ASUS COA to install on the ASUS laptop? Legally. I mean I did it and it worked, but I just want to make sure.
Almost certainly it's not legal, not so much because of Windows, but the other bundled software is not licensed to run on anything other than a Dell.
Tou should order a set of Recovery disks for the Asus from their website.
There is no bundled software. It looks the same as a retail disc if you match them in explorer
Ah - Dell are still using the 'clean disk' system then - you're lucky :)
While being a technical breach of the rules, no-one is going to come battering your door down at 3a.m.
It's still worh getting the Recovery disks from Asus, as they will contain the drivers and other software, some of which may not be available by download.
InformationWe always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

I don't want recovery discs. I want a clean Windows install disc like I got from DELL. The driver and Utility disc came seperate from ASUS. Just no Clean Windows install disc. I want to swap ot the Hard drive and install a SSD, which will wipe out the recovery partition which I could care less about. I hate this recovery BS. I like the old fashion way of just placing a full install disk in the DVD drive and installing Windows from scratch. With the Driver and Utility disc I can then decide what bloatware I want to install and not install. Like I said the DELL disc worked no OEM folder anywhere just the .cfg file that says it's OEM. If I run MGAdiag from MS it has the ASUS COA listed not the DELL.
Same with this Anytime Upgrade BS. Now I have Pro installed on my machine when originally had Home Premium. I paid for both why should both COA's be taken on one PC. I am using the PRO COA on a clean install. That should you would think free up the Home Premium COA. From what I am seeing NOT. Microsoft big rip off.

If you don't like it, don't buy machies with pre-installed OEM Licenses, and instead buy Full Retail licenses - then you get to pick what you want, and can transfer it to a new machine if this one packs in.
The upgrades and original were full retail not OEM. Different topic sorry. Also on the topic on hand you cannot get Recovery discs from ASUS on this particular model.
