    mine too

This new update seems to have crashed my computer too - so much so that I can't get beyond the system repair / start windows normally screen . Through the system repairr option I can reach a system restore option but it won't actually restore the system ! so I am stuck in a small loop that I can't get out of . Any ideas please ?

Can I bother you to send me yoru cbs.log file from c:\windows\logs\cbs folder? You'll need to click through to copy to documents folder. Email it to susan-at-msmvps.com (change the -at- to @) and zip it up or put it on a skydrive to get it to me.

Microsoft is reaching out to gather info on impacted systems and I'd really truly appreciate it if you could get these logs so I can give them to Microsoft.

I am assuming you work for Microsoft Susan as I think giving out email addresses is probably not a good idea on this forum. Plus I am wondering why you are not sharing knowledge with the rest of us?

Bunge can you get into safe mode??

I'm a microsoft mvp, I volunteer on forums, I write patching articles for WindowsSecrets.com, I am a moderator on the patchmanagement.org listserve. I don't work for Microsoft (thank goodness) but I work with them. In this case I was emailed by several Microsoft staff members asking me to see if I can help them out gathering cbs.logs because they don't have that many cases and they are trying to make sure they have all issues investigated.

I am sharing everything I know at this time, I don't know the root cause of the issue. I have personally opened up two support cases for folks with BSODs and am trying to ensure anyone impacted gets investigated.

P.S I blog at THE OFFICIAL BLOG OF THE SBS DIVA I give out my email address because I don't post here that much and am trying to get the info to Microsoft as fast as I can.

None taken at all and it's good to see moderators that care about their communities.

BTW I wrote up what I know at this time along with my feelings that it's not as widespread as we think. I do not want to discount in any way anyone impacted, I just don't want people in a panic

Thanks both - but no , I can't get into safe mode let alone into c/docs. I'm stuck in the F8 options and system restore - which won't restore !

Bunge just as thought mate if you ant to get data off that drive before you replace it a it sounds as if the drive might be going south how about making a Ubuntu bootable disk set the BIOS to optical and boot the OS use the TRY not the install get your data of it ad wipe the drive and do a clean install then put the data back on?

    Download Ubuntu | Ubuntu

    then Clean Install Windows 7
