UNI is this machine a AMD also ?
Well for what it is worth I spent many hours going in circles trying to fix the problem attempting variations of several fixes.
In the end what worked (it may not work for everyone and possibly not all steps are needed) was:
[EDIT: First reset IE to default. Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> Reset]
Run MicrosoftFixit50202.msi in aggressive mode. Disable WU service. Switch off router. Reboot (with no internet)
MicrosoftFixit50202[1].msi in aggressive mode again. Reboot (still with no internet) - disable WU Service.
Remove all versions of WU client (the ones where an update has been installed)
Run that script Brink posted to reset all WU components - but instead of running the script run the commands one at a time using Elevated Command Prompt > Powershell swictching back to Elevated Command Prompt (no Powershell) if an error was encountered.
Manually confirm that the following were deleted and either unlock and delete or force delete if still present:
"%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"
%SystemRoot%\SoftwareDistribution\*.*
%SystemRoot%\system32\catroot2\*.*
%SystemRoot%\WindowsUpdate.log
Check WU service is disabled. Reboot.
Run advanced disk cleanup to include WU cleanup. Enable WU Service. Reboot.
Manually re-configure WU settings (Notify)
Run a WU check and leave overnight. The first one seems to take ages. Once complete, do not install any updates for WU client.
Manually download whatever version of WU Client you wish to use and force install it.
"Full Path To installer ****.msu" /wuforce
Reboot. Reconfigure WU settings if they have changed (Notify instead of Auto-Download)
After WU check hide any WU Client updates

Well the problem seems to mostly affect AMD machines but a few users of Intel machines report problems.
[QUOTE=AddRAM;3163202]Once again, my current list and my WUA version is 7.6.7601.18979
Hey Guys,
How or where do I find my version number.
Check WU Agent: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...(v=vs.85).aspx
Check WU Client: svchost.exe takes all cpu power from time to time
Anyone received this update on their 7 machine today?
Looking at the description it states it's for Windows 8.1 only. Wonder if this is another MS screw up??

Yes. I was offered that KB.
I started checking for it several hours ago when I first saw this thread...
KB3095649 - another mystery meat update?
...but I was just now offered KB3095649.
