Windows Update: Service Registration Is Missing or Corrupt

Yesterday, when I ran into a problem with installing an update from Windows Update. So, yesterday I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter. The Windows Update Troubleshooter said that my Service Registration is missing or corrupt.

Can someone assist me on fixing this issue?

Try resetting the Windows Update components.

Okay. I got that fixed. But, now its saying that there are problems installing recent updates from the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

Do you know which updates you're having problems with? Please provide the KB numbers if you can. If these are optional updates (as opposed to critical or important updates) you may be able to ignore them.

I checked for updates, and Windows Update said there were no updates found.

I think you're good to go.

The only other thing I'd do is run a System File Checker scan from an elevated command prompt (Option Two this tutorial.)

It's been reported that several Windows Updates starting around April or May 2015 have caused people to experience corrupted system files after running sfc /scannow.

If you have corrupted files try uninstalling the known Windows Updates that will supposedly make upgrading to Windows 10 easier. Then try running the sfc again.

marsmimar, its saying that I have corrupted files from command prompt. I have entered the following command "findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt", and it keeps saying "The system cannot find the file specified".
