Hi,
You can always clean install it is a lot easier now days with the unofficial sp2 :)
See post #2
windows update
Hi Truth,
can you confirm if you have these 2 files, (screenshot)
Roy
If there's absolutely nothing to be done for it, reinstalling is an option. The Win7 install doesn't worry me half as much as the idea of the software reinstalls following it.
I don't have either of those files. It looks like I have the ones directly above and below them in your screenshot, but those specific highlighted files are missing.
See if you can install updates with this:
64/32DirectDownload
Use your browser to d/l these updates and see if the above program will install them:
Huh. If that program is to be believed, I've been running stock Windows 7 for nearly a year with no updates at all. I can't seem to use it to install the update you specified. BUT. It can install updates (based off the one I tested anyway), which puts infinitely closer to my goal than I was.
I'm not sure if the appropriate action now is to install every update on the list this way, or find one particular update to solve the Windows Update issue.
Hi Truth,
Lets put those files in.
You should still have sfc.exe on your desktop
Follow the instructions below to download and execute a SFCFix fix, and provide the log.
- Download the attached SFCFix.zip and move the archive to your Desktop;
Note: Make sure that the file is named SFCFix.zip, do not rename it.- Save any work you have open, and close every programs;
- Drag the SFCFix.zip archive file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it;
- SFCFix will launch, let it complete;
- Once done, a file will appear on your Desktop, called SFCFix.txt;
- Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply;
Can you then try AN update.
If it works go for it.
If it fails can you post the relevant CBS log.
Roy
No success there, I'm afraid. Log pasted below.

I feel like I should be impressed that I've managed to stump people with this problem. Maybe I should make my computer a medal.
