win 7 64bit new install up date keep going.

I installed the windows and service pack 1 then I rebooted and hit the windows update and it just says searching for updates and does not stop it just spins and brings up nothing. I ran sfc /scannow at elevated level and got no errors no errors. What is wrong?

    Hi,
You would be best off starting with media that already had sp1 on it
If you need win-7 pro 64 bit English it's not a problem to give you a link for a download
You can also do it yourself using this jewel
    https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/techno...-download-tool

There are essentially 3 updates needed for a clean install of windows that will get you updated through April of 2016

KB3020369 & KB3172605 & KB3125574 manually installed in that order all can be downloaded from the M$ catalog using internet explorer
    Microsoft Update Catalog

When manually installing updates you need to switch your update settings to Never check for updates and restart the machine first.

After restart verify that the windows update service is not running if it is Stop and switch to Manual apply and okay.

I also have all three updates on my OneDrive in separate zip folders if you don't want to mess with internet explorer and the catalog

    Hi,
Yes a single dvd is capable although I would usually just use a flash drive
Option one you can use either a dvd or usb device.
But Rufus never fails for usb devices
