    Torchwood,

At work right now, I will check system time this evening. Although, I think it is correct!

One other thing that's odd, when trying to update, windows update goes right to installing, not download? and they always fail with 800736B3

    Thank you

    Hi Al,
possibly coz your updates settings >> download but let me choose? > (and youve allready chosen)

need to get to the root cause ie whats causing 736B3

    can you go
    c > Windows > WindowsUpdate. copy/paste that log
(note its further down the list than the cbs log, near the bottom)
    and
Event viewer >> system >> event ID 20, double click on it (new window opens)
    screenshot the
General, then details friendly and xmail views please
hopefully that will tell me what service is causing it to fail

    Hi Adetor,
    aplogies for the delay,
Right can you confirm a couple things
    Is this a repair INSTALL
did it come with either McAfee/Norton, if so did you use THIER uninstaller to remove it
(if not please use it from SAFE mode)

The error showing in the log would seem to indicate this, to further confirm can you run this tool
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=52012
    copy/paste the output
if so a Vbs error should be showing

    Torchwood,

This is not a repair install. The Antivirus installed is Emsisoft. Yes, McAfee was installed on this computer and uninstalled with their uninstaller over a year ago. Windows Update problem showed up about a month or so ago. Below is output log:

    Hi Alan,
can you uncheck (turn OFF), device driver updates, it seems to be having a problem with a few of them especially your printer.
    Set updates to never
    Turn OFF

Once off can you also unplug the printer,
    restart
    Remove the printer in Devices

    try updating.
