I want to COMPLETELY wipe this Drive (including OS)

I'm starting fresh with a new windows install (with a new version of windows and a new key, etc). I have an old SSD that I'm going to wipe and then sell on ebay. Then I'll do a fresh install on my new (larger) SSD.

How do I wipe the old SSD? I'm a bit OCD I dont really want to have both my old SSD and my new SSD plugeed in at the same time.

Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it.

    Hello werm,

If you like, you could run a "Clean All" command on the SSD to secure erase it. It will leave it as unallocated, and the data unrecoverable. :)

Not if you are booted from that drive.

You can't clean a drive you are booted from.

You would have to run the command in a command prompt at boot if it's the hard drive the current OS is on. Be sure to back up anything that you do not want to lose first though. It will wipe everything on the hard drive completely clean with little chance of recovery.

From the tutorial that Brink posted.

    Note

    • You cannot use the clean or clean all diskpart commands on a boot disk (ex: disk Windows is installed on) unless you do it from a command prompt at boot.

    • Be sure to backup anything that you do not want to lose on the disk that you use clean or clean all on first. It will be to late afterwards. All data will be permanently lost on the disk.

Please read the tutorial again. It does work and will work if followed completely.
