Hello smeagol, welcome to Seven Forums!

Doing a wipe (secure erase) to the Hard Disk Drive is the best course of action but you don't need 3rd party S/W to do it, the Windows 7 installation media will do it natively; have a look at the information below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

After you have made backups of everything you care to save and you want to do a real wipe "clean all" to the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) have a look at this tutorial at the link below, it over-writes everything, all the old Windows code including all the old Windows drivers, giving you the best possible space to install Windows 7 to; it goes hand-in-hand with a clean install.

All Linux code must be deleted. As you have had linux on the HD you need do a Clean all & full format.
Try a full clean & full format in command prompt.
    1) Boot DVD & Press Shift+F10 (for command prompt)
    2) Boot DVD, & Command Prompt at Startup
    (for command prompt)

    Type in command line
    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
    SELECT DISK # (win HD)
    CLEAN ALL
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
    SELECT PARTITION 1
    ACTIVE
    FORMAT fs=NTFS
    ASSIGN
    EXIT
    EXIT
