Help Win7 installed on 2 drives and more crazy gone badly wrong
OK this is complexand complicated... Fortime have had problems with blue screens etc, until today (got a new opticaldrive) couldn't do any thing about it.
5 hours ago I had 3 partitions C: D: E: Partion E: was the largest so I copied all my files onto it, leaving bare bones on the other 2. See some how D: drive had an XP image so needed to format it.
Now C drive was system with all programs etc installed to, D was a small partition with relative small data on and E drive was where I had program installers vids pics etc.
So in goes win7 disk select custom option (I should say before all of this I did do an install without formating any partitions, resulting with a blue screen when had almost finnished installing) and used format option on partitions C: and D:
This guys is where it has gone very very wrong...
Bearing in mind I had just formated C: and D:... At the login I'm presented with 2 logins the one just created and the earlier one, using the new one it opens up to a very basic window, something resembling windows 3.1 in colour etc. Quickly went to look at partitions and there are only two, C & D?
WTF it gets better, somehow the instalation has installed it self over to partitions...
Currently can not show screen grabs as not all set up.
But to say Prog files (x86), Prog Files users and windows is on C: and on D: "8fe2a17156970fca00cf21d4db2b5142" "components" "d1ae67c4513e95b68356" "PerfLogs" "bootsqm.dat" also 2 prog files user and windows.
On C: I have standard files in the folders but on D: I have a whole host in fact all the programs which were originally installed on C: are now archived on D: with the extentions *.7z *.pac *.nexe which are all a result from the installer archiving them?
Every single program I had installed on C: is now on D: Oh and what about my other partition which I never formated? Well the old C: is now the hidden E: the old D: is now C: and the old E: is now D:
I think thats it... Oh no, According to the time when I had installed 1st time was 6 in the future, yet when came to set clock was 3 hours earlier the 2nd install apparently happened 5 hours after the first. Both logins had different times on them but not the day/month/year. Just out of interest when you change the time zone you have GMT now though there is UTC?
I'm sorry this all sound a bit scrambled but it appears I have lost 100 gig of progs and files. Also in my previous life I worked in CBT as a SDE.
My brain is now so frazzled probably get it tomorrow but how can see the now lost partiton, also where or what did I do?
Cheers Guys
