Need Help with the above issue, HDD is "not initiazied" Data is import

Hi All, I got this issue with my Hdd yesterday, since then I've been racking all over the internet to find any solution, Would greatly appreciate any help at all.
My Hdd is Segate 320GB about 4years old, It was working fine, I was deleting some files, which didn't get deleted, and the hdd was abruptly removed from the usb slot, then I tried repluggig the drive nothing would be read, I went into Disc Management, the drive wasn't seen, after plugging in for 1 hour it showed up, I read in other forum it would be an issue with the drive letter, so in disc management, changed the drive letter, I got a message as, Initializing disc, MBR, click OK, ..... I did that, but realized that it might be formatting my drive so I canceled the action mid way. After that tried re-plugging the drive not it just says not-initialized and partitioned.
I want to recover all the data within it, atleast about 250GB worth of data. I have previously done lot of data recovery, but am totally stumped in this scenario, Please appreciate any help on this matter.

This is great stuff. I must have missed it since I don't get to the Software forum much any more with all the threads waiting in Installation and General.

Please notify me of any other experiments like this. You are really a master at this, jumanji.

Thank you greg for the appreciative words.

By and large I am now living on past glory and leaving it aside to the more capable and energetic younger generation - there are many and if I name only a few I will be missing out many and so I won't name any :).

If I do anything worthwhile that I feel may interest you I shall indeed drop a word. Thanks again.

Sometimes you can browse into a drive from the Win7 disk to Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
but that's not very likely if it won't be seen in Win7 except as an unformatted drive in Disk Mgmt.

As a last resort you could remove it from the external case and try installing it internally into a laptop to see if the drive itself can still be read from a boot disk because what was actually damaged is the other components and not the hard drive.

You can also install WD Data Lifeguard to Win7 to see how it reads the drive and if it might be reparable. If that fails then WD also makes a bootable diagnostics. WD Data Lifeguard bootable flash stick and Windows version
