    BSOD - driver_power_state_failure Please Help!

Hi everyone, hope you can help me fix this brand new Asus G53JW-IX162V, as it cost a lot, and i am getting very stressed out about this!
    Specs:
    Model: Asus G53JW-IX162V
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
    Age: About two weeks
    OS Age: Same - OEM
    RAM: 8GB
    Hard Drive: 640GB
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M

Laptop either takes about 8 minutes trying to shut down then shows BSOD and stays like that...
Or takes about sametime then restarts and once into windows displays message about failing to shut down properly.

I installed Daemon Tools when i got my laptop, that could possibly be the problem. But i have uninstalled that yesterday, and yet i got a failed shut down again last night....
Or another possibility, i am getting back into Rome - Total War, and yesterday the game did crash, but possibly unrelated.
Also i installed all the bloatware (i knew i shouldn't but i just had to... i kinda want this laptop to be exactly as it should be... lol) but have uninstalled pretty much all of it, as was complete junk. Weird thing is, about 4-5 days after i got the laptop, was uninstalling bloatware then on restart all settings had been reset, like i had just got the laptop.... weird. Had to redo setting up windows media player, IE, AVG had to do initial scan, etc...

Hope someone can help, sorry about all the junk i've wrote, just really really want to get this laptop working properly!

Hi Biggsamus and welcome to SF!
All the dmp files are the same, blaming usbhub.sys. Watch out for any usb device that hooking up with computer. Unplug one at a time before you shut down your system in order to identify which one is the cause.

In looking through the loaded drivers, I could see this one is kind of old:
    Code:
    ATK64AMD ATK64AMD.sys Tue May 12 19:04:54 2009 (4A0A1CB6)
It is ATK Hotkey ATK0101 ACPI UTILITY Driver. Please update it ASAP

Hi Tuan and everyone else that's reading,

The only thing that i have had plugged into the USB ports so far is the USB mouse which came with the laptop (Asus ROG Gaming Mouse)... So not too sure about this...

Have updated The Gaming Mouse Driver (which has got rid of the interface program thing for changing the gaming mouse settings :'( )
    Also Updated USB 3.0 Driver.
And updated the ATK Driver, although it kinda looks like its the same driver date so not sure if it has updated.

Had two shut downs, but all seems good so far. Will give it a bit of a beasting on Rome Total War tomorrow and see if it shuts down properly after.
Also will try and see if maybe its a faulty USB port...

Thanks for the help, really hope it's all fixed for now :)

Try uninstalling AVG using this removal tool: Tool (64 bit) and uninstall Identity Protection with this removal tool: Tool. AVG is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Your dumps indicate conflicts. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. See if this helps your system run more smoothly.

If you get another BSOD after removing AVG, enable Driver Verifier following the instructions in this tutorial:
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable. Upload any and all Verifier enabled dumps.

Ok things have changed a little.

I was racking my brain on what it could be and i had a look at the drivers for the gaming mouse in the device manager, and it was ancient (like from 2006) so have updated that...
The only problem was that during this update it came around to restart your computer to finish update bit.
I said yes and so it proceeded in crashing again (saying shut down for half an hour, etc.). I got annoyed and so just shut it down using power button.
Restarted and it had updated. I was happy thinking that must have fixed it. Was waiting a couple of hours so i could test to see if it had fixed the problem (by shutting down after a couple of hours).
Put it onto battery saver just as i thought i should try to save some of my pennies on electricity bills (lol) and when i came around to go on my computer the screen wouldn't come back on (but the computer was running).
Another shut down using the power button, i've removed the gaming mouse driver and re-installed (just in case that didn't work properly). Oh also when it did restart (was quite slow) it said something about the installing bluetooth drivers... has one problem fixed and another one emerged?

How much damage do you think this sh*t will have done to my HDD/components?
I guess i must now wait another couple of hours till i shut down to see if it crashes... Think i will remove avg in the mean time as it has acted (ever so slightly) weird since i got rid of the bloatware.

You have one even more ancient driver:
ghaio.sys Mon May 30 05:34:05 2005 - ASUS NB Probe program (thanks to reventon). ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-.
Uninstall the Asus Probe utility or rename this driver. Create a restore point, using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, locate the driver file, and rename it from .sys to .old. Reboot and the driver will not load. This will break whatever software or hardware these drivers are associated with.

Eliminate ghaio.sys and uninstall AVG, reboot, and let's see how your system runs.

Asus NB Probe is gone, AVG fully removed, and as i'm stupid and for some reason not trying to fix this problem using small steps, i've installed microsoft security essentials as well. The scan it performed slowed system performance a bit more than i noticed with AVG... but it seems like quite a solid program, maybe it was just settling in, anyway i'll be happy as long as no more crashes!

Well i better get to bed, but tomorrow i will get my laptop on early and hopefully it will not crash after a couple of hours being on, and a shutdown!

Thanks for all the help so far
