You might want to look at the owners manual for you motherboard and see what it has to say about using all that RAM.

I'm not quite so sure all that RAM is bad as much as it might be the wrong type, the motherboard simply can't handle it, or it may not have been configured correctly.

Can you post a link to both your motherboard, and the RAM you used?

    Will look at it later.

    Thanks.

    My setup:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 ghz
ZALMAN 9700 LED 110mm CPU Cooler
    MSI P7N SLI Platinum
    eVGA GeForce GTX 275 - 896 MB - DDR3 SDRAM
    G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ PC2 6400 8 gigs [four 2 gig sticks]-(Old ram now installed is Crucial / 2GB / 240-pin DIMM / DDR2 PC2-5300ruc)
    Corsair CMPSU-750HX 750-Watt PSU
    Plextor 24X DVDRW SATA w/Lightscribe
    WD Caviar 320GB SATA-3G HD 7200/16MB/SATA-3G
NZXT SENTRY LX Fan Control Panel
    NZXT M59 Case
    Samsung 24inch LCD Monitor
I ran my virus scan last night (Avast) and it found no infections, but I found the machine frozen this morning. The virus scan took over an hour, and the computer froze soon after. Even the clock widget on the desktop was frozen. I rebooted into the system, ran that rootkit scan and found no infection, and the machine was fine when I left for work. I will have to pull the log files tonight and post them to see if there is a clue to what is happening.

Machine was frozen again today, and after a restart froze again in minutes. It has not been on for 3 hours, and OK. I ran the utility and zipped it, here are the crash logs. Can someone PLEASE look at them for me?

The dump in the last package is from May 1st and points the finger towards RAM. but I trust that was before you switched out your RAM.

Your WER for 05/24 show 2 hung applications (Backspin.exe) and a bunch of LiveKernelEvents (which might point at your video driver...but I'm not sure about that...all additional parameters are 0)

OK I assume it's time to shake the system and see what falls out.
Follow this tut and see where it gets us.

What I did find, tho: You have Starforce on your system and an incompatible version at that:

      Description:
The application (StarForce Protection, from vendor StarForce) has the following problem: The installed StarForce Protection driver is not compatible with this version of Windows and will be disabled. Applications that require this driver will not function properly without a patch.

    Froze in Safe mode again

Thanks for the link to clear those Starforce drivers, I had a heck of a time trying to find them to get rid of them.

I started the verifier. The computer slowed down a LOT while it ran, and BSOD'ed twice. I then uninstalled the video drivers. New zip files attached.

I ran the program to collect the crash files in Safe Mode with Networking, and it froze up after completing the program. It worries me that the system can freeze while in Safe Mode.

I heard some noise from the box while it was frozen this time, but could not ID it. I have been running CPUID to check temps, and they are not a problem.

I have had 6 memory sticks go bad on this MOBO. I bought it used, but it ran really well for over a year. Could I have a hardware problem?

The slowing down with DV enabled is to be expected so that's ok. as for the other thing:
Even tho I personally never heard of it, it sure is possible that a mobo "eats" RAMs due to fluctuating power etc.
So I would inspect the mobo carefully! Use a magnifyer and check out the capacitors If they bulge or even ooze some electrolyte it's time for a new board. (I don't think with today's multy-layer technic one can simply exchange the borked capacitors...at least I know I can't

This page might help you in identifying culprits

Both dumps blame the Nvidea driver
    Code:

you just updated with a reference to pci.sys which might indicate a hardware failure. Let's see what the board inspection brings.

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000000000000, memory referenced
    Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
    Arg3: 0000000000000000, bitfield :
    	bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: fffff80002cae605, address which referenced memory

I will try to inspect the board tonight. The odd thing is that after the two BSOD's, I removed the Nvidia drivers, and the machine STILL froze up, and then froze up in Safe Mode.

Can the dumps tell you why the machine is freezing? I don't get a BSOD, the machine simply stops doing anything. I remember a story from the days of large room sized computers, where a multi-million dollar computer would freeze every 4 days or so, and had to be rebooted (a process of more than an hour). After months of inspection of the code, they finally found that one set of instructions had no following instruction. In other words, when this happens, (the computer had no instructions where to go from there, so it simply waited for an instruction.....).

I feel this way when my machine freezes. Twice it happened when I was on a web page, and moving the mouse. The pointer just froze in mid motion, HD went inactive, and the computer does not respond to any keyboard or mouse actions. About half of the times, when I reboot it, the machine does not run the post, it just sits till I reboot a second time. Could a problem in the BIOS cause this?
