I also noticed it flickering lot's to the point of freezing really quickly in starcraft II with the graphics on ultra.

Fresh install only a few days old.

Attached BSOD zip.

Hi Chooseyant.

I do see one problem that is an almost guaranteed cause of a crash.
Please uninstall any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dump, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads. Select delete; do not select reinstall.

Here is an alternative virtualization program that does not user the sptd.sys driver:

Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview
You might try experimenting with different NVidia drivers. Sometimes the the latest driver is not always the best. I tried five different drivers before I got my freezes to stop. I used a slightly older driver.

I uninstalled daemon tools and that driver. After restart I started playing starcraft, working fine, but as the problem may have been fixed I put the settings back up to ultra and that's where I encounter the same problem. My friend has the exact same graphics card bought recently and he runs it on ultra without any flickering.

As this has happened previously although the card was dodgy I think the most likely thing could be my ram. How do I test this though? I mean it works fine but I think it will be the compatibility doing something whack to my graphics. Also I notice the clock speeds are quite odd 5-5-5-15-72.

I have OCZ platinum ram DDR2.

Good job on getting rid of sptd.sys. I am glad you are not crashing. Your upload does not contain any dump files. Follow this tutorial and upload just your dumps and we can take a closer look. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/83172-dump-files-upload-seven-forums.html

You can test your RAM with Memtest86. This will take about eight hours to run; so you might want to do this over night. Any errors will show in red on your screen. Post your results.

Will do, I've done the ram tests in the past (pretty long time ago now) and it checked out fine. Although I think it may be the 8GB or the branding compatibility but I will do that tonight also.

I don't have a dump folder as I newly formatted windows. I was told to move this graphic problem thread to here though.

It turns out it's the ram, I took out 2 slots so 4GB and it works fine ultra. Now what do I do to get it all working?

Thanks for reporting back with your solution and letting us know. The cause may be RAM incompatibility, a bad RAM stick, or a bad RAM slot. Do continue to work with this problem in the hardware section. Those guys are quite good with RAM issues. RAM issues are not my field of expertise.

I will ask the moderators to mark this thread as solved. I will follow your progress in the new thread.
