Hi,

Bought a brand new Sony Vaio VPCS12X9E with preinstalled Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

I installed some additional software ( MS Office 2003) and other freeware (Firefox, Google Earth, iTunes, WinRar, Sketch Up, Zone Alarm and AntiVir) and put all my data on the computer.

When I went online to surf the computer started crashing.

I updated Windows 7 with all patches and also updated the Intel Wifi adapter driver with the latest version.

As long as I am offline everything runs fine, as soon as I go online – no matter if through Wifi or through Lan – the computer is crashing.

The codes on the bluescreens I have have been receiving after the crashes are on one hand

Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0X006000D1)

and

0X0000007F

For more detail I have attached the dump files of the recent crashes. For some it seems that the crash data was not collected because I had more than the attached 5 crashes in the last three days I have been fighting this problem.
If you need any more information please let me know and I will provide it.

Please help!!! I am so close to returning the computer and continuing working on my old slow machine with Windows XP but without any problems. I am really frustrated this happening with a brand new computer and OS! Thanks.

Sounds like ZoneAlarm is the cause here. Please remove it with this tool: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/support/cpes_clean.exe

Hello Adalbert,

How are you making out on this? Are you still experiencing BSODs?

Hi Jonathan,

thank you for your tip. Indeed it was the Firewall Zone Alarm that made my Windows 7 crash.

I uninstalled it and am using Comodo Freeware Firewall now, which is working fine.

Funny enough, half a year ago I had set up another computer with Windows 7 Premium 64BIT with Zone Alarm Firewall as well and that System has been running fine since then!

Cheers, Adalbert

Thanks for the update, I'm glad you are all set now.

Not even the most infamous of programs cause BSODs on every system. Those programs just have a much higher risk than the rest.

Let us know if you need anything else!
