Solved How do I re-install calendar gadget?

I got so frustrated with the lack of ways to manipulate the destop calendar gadget that I clicked "uninstall." And it did. Completely. It is now nowhere to be found -- even in its original frustrating form. Right-clicking on the desktop does not work. It's gone from the menu of choices.

So, how do I get it back? And if I can get it back, how do I get it to display only the monthly grid, not the screaming orange numerical day of the month?

Click on the start button and in the search box enter gadgets. Look on the results list, you can get gadgets online, or restore gadgets that came with W7.

I can't help you with the display of the calendar.

Here you go, View attachment Calendar.Gadget.zip

Just unzip that and put the whole unzipped folder in the following location:

In start menu search type shell:gadgets , open that folder and put your Calendar.Gadget folder in there.

There are only two views for the calendar, the orange day or the month and day like this,

I can't get anything right. I got into some sort of infinity loop between the zip file and the shell thing. There was no way to "put" anything into anything else. So I just did the control panel > appearance routine and got the calendar back. However, there was no way to display just the month (even though the guy who worked on this computer last week had it set up that way). So, I gave up. I tried to go into some secret place with dddd,mm,yyyy or whatever to get the date to display in my taskbar tray. That didn't work, either. I feel like I have a broken-down Model T and my life is spent trying to get it to work!

If it is indeed the calendar that comes with Windows 7, then as derek stated, there are only 2 default views. Small = date only. Large = calendar (month) and date. A Guy

Yep. You're right, A Guy. I opted not to use the calendar at all. Now I have to get up and walk across the room to look at an actual glossy-paper, monthly grid calendar hanging inside my pantry door. Oh, the horror!

Hey, thanks! I found a small, unobtrusive monthly calendar that I really liked. I installed it, only to find out that the month was spelled "Juli." So, I opened it up and found that everything is in German. I'm trying to figure out how to change it, but even if I can't do it, I hope I still have enough of a brain left to know what month it is.

You have to click on the little arrow to make it change from week to month.

I like that one -- very sleek and simple. Problem is (and there is always a problem): It opened itself up in a temporary file and I can't get it out of there onto my desktop. Strange goings-on tonight....

Yes. I just kept closing tabs and it hung in there with me until the desktop was revealed. I clicked on "options" and turned it into an actual calendar. It's right next to my analog clock.

Yea! Something went right!
