I'm looking for a driver for built-in Logitech webcam Acer Aspire 5680. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.

I've tried this: Acer Support - Drivers & Download
Acer doesn't seem to have drivers for Windows 7. The XP/Vista drivers do not work. Windows 7 cannot find the webcam.

Any ideas, folks?

I have a different Aspire model but I found that Windows 7 already supported the web cam. It just doesn't have any software to make use of it.

Click on start, then right click on computer, then properties, then click on device manager (top left). Click next to imaging devices and see if there is "USB Video Device" or something similar. If it's there, yu just need some software to use your camera. You can try this out:

Yawcam - Yet Another Webcam Software

You'll need the Javascript runtime environment. If you don't have it, the installer offers to take you to the web page. Once you have Jave runtime installed, you can go back and install Yawcam. It's not hard to figure out, but you'll have to tell it what device you want it to use. I think you have to do it every time, but I haven't played much with it yet. There are other free web cam programs available also. This is just one that I tried to use with the camera to see if it was working.

Welcome to seven forums herdubreid:Have you tried installing the Vista driver http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/ in compatibiity mode? http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html Logitech also has free web cam software you might want to try. Logitech Vid? By not finding the web cam do you mean it doesn't show up in device manager? Do you have any devices with yellow triangels next to them in device manager? Would you copy and paste a screen shot of your device manager for use to see? Fabe

herdubreid,

I have recently installed windows 7 professional, and have the same model (acer aspire 5680) and coincidentally am having a similar problem regarding my acer orbicam.

I was wondering which driver you downloaded and steps you took to installing it? I've been at this for a while and can't seem to find any viable solution.

kjames05,

I had the same problem as yourself (with the same model of aspire), and the solution I found (for the touchpad) was going to the synaptics website and downloaded the appropriate website.

for the webcam, acer offers three different kinds driver, (logitech, bison, and suyin) mine happened to be a logitech orbicam. what I did to solve the problem, was I downloaded the logitech driver, installed it running the executable file, still no webcam detection. I then went to the device manager to update the driver of the webcam, directing it towards the downloaded driver folder. and voila. it is working fine now.

hopefully that helps.

and for the touchpad,
i tried downloading the synaptics driver from acer's website but when trying to run it i just get an error that says "could not locate OS file"

i'm running windows 7 by the way
