dell inspiron 6400 drivers for win 7

Hello aLLy07, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums!
There are no drivers available specifically for the Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop in Windows 7. However there are 32 bit Vista drivers that should work. Actually, Microsoft Update *should* find all the drivers your laptop needs to run Windows 7 32 Bit. If you need a driver for a specific hardware device (like a wireless card) please say so and we can see what can be done.

What drivers specifically, as it's running fine on a 6400 here, apart from 2 "base system devices", which haven't been an issue so far.

sorry i having the same problem too after installed 7 Ultimate on Inspiron 6400 , now no sound and yellow exclaimation on DEVICE MANAGER ==> SYSTEM DEVICES ==> High Definition Audio Controller. I researched for 4 days but got no lucks, either from Dell or Google and tried many different ways to install drivers and uninstall driver still nothing.

Yes, it is what sets the mode, suggest SP2. If that doesn't work then extract the driver and remember where the DELL directory is since it is in another folder there. Uninstall the driver and the sound card in Control Panel then cold boot the PC. It will load the generic MS driver when the new hardware wizard runs and then tell you it failed. Go to Control Panel again and to the sound card and hit update driver and point it to the folder, it will then load, each PC is a bit different and that route is for the most stubborn. Good Luck.

i downloaded and installed that driver (6400) but i got an error message "This is not the correct driver for this device"
i changed to VISTA compatibility mode, i got ERROR message telling me to restart and install again, did it twice, the exclaim. point still @ the "High Definition Audio Controller"
