Touchpad Driver for Dell Inspiron 1525

On my Dell Inspiron 1525, when you try to scroll using the touchpad (sliding your finger along the right or bottom side), all it does is move the mouse. I think this might be a driver problem, so I tried going on the Dell website to find a driver for the touchpad, but all I can find are drivers for Windows XP and Vista 32-bit. Does anyone know of any Dell Inspiron 1525 drivers for Windows 7 64-bit?

First Run windows Update and look though both recommended and Optional updates.
Can you see driver updates?

hi all i have the same issue 1525 win7 ultimate go to dell punch in the service code and it says touchpad does not support it with this OS i currently cant run vxp mode
i could use a little help also

Just to add to this you'll want to probably use compatibility mode to install them. Right click on the setup.exe file>properties>compatibility tab>drop down menu select Vista>check the box run in compatibility mode. Then install as administrator. Fabe

I just installed the 64 bit, dell input driver r244796, on the Dell Inspiron 1525, and the scrolling does work. This should work for 64bit Vista or Windows 7. Here's the link for the download....

Dell touchpad settings question

I was able to utilize the driver mentioned and got back the scroll bar functionality. However, I want to turn off the double tap (which gets read as a left mouse click). I drag my thumb and it keeps causing me to relocate my cursor while I am typing...

Any ideas? I could not find anything in the driver settings and was hoping there would be an options under the generic mouse settings, but nothing there.

Found the windows control to adjust the touchpad

With the driver mentioned earlier, quoted below:

I was finally able to get to the control to adjust the settings for the slide controls and double tap. Can not disable doubletap, but can at least adjust the speed to make it not happen as often. It also allows the ability ti disable if a usb mouse is installed.

I had to go through the control panel and go in through the mouse controls, which did not show up before the new driver was installed.

Dell is pretty lazy about linking drivers and supporting out of warranty computers.. The alps touchpad in the latitude D620 is identical to the one for a D630 (and probably an inspiron 1525 for that matter), as is most of the other hardware, yet Dell blatantly tells its customers that a D620 won't run windows 7. They don't say they won't support it, their techs actually tell their customers a D620 won't run windows 7. The answer is to find another model that is supported for 7 with the same hardware as your computer, usually by searching for drivers in a slightly higher model number
