Adrian, I started doing the steps you described. While I was waiting for the driver to download, I wondered off to the HP forums where I stumbled upon a solution:

Quote:
Control panel then Settings then Add Printer
Choose "Add a local printer". Click on "Create a new port". Use Local Port.
Next dialogue box is "Enter a Port Name."
Type in the path to the printer: \\(computer name)\(printer name).
Then select the proper driver, and print a testpage.
I quickly tried it and it works like a charm!

And thank you for your effort and patience!

You are my hero!!! I have been looking all over for a solution to get my LaserJet 1100 working from a Windows 2000 shared system, and this worked perfect!!!!

Sorry to bump a somewhat old thread, but I really had to show my appreciation!!

Are any of you successfully printing two-sided with the HP Laserjet 1200 series?

I have a the HP Laserjet 1220. It's the 1200 with a copy option. I used Windows Xp for years and it took many tries to find a driver with configuration options for two-sided printing. Windows 7 64-bit recognizes and installs a driver that has a two-sided option, but the printer will only print one-sided.

I bought it in 2001, but there is nothing wrong with it and paper is too expensive to print one-sided.

The printer will print two-sided when connected to an XP machine.

Many people are facing the same problem of compatibility with between the printers and the OS, their has to be some solution that can end this problem. At times you cannot use or connect your printer with your system when you need it the most. One of my friend ruined his Savin Toner 2522 when he thought that the printer has some problem.

You the Man!

I wish I knew this work around several months ago. I had to take our workhorse LaserJet 1200 off the 3 computer network I put a 1TB hard drive in my computer and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I could never get the 1200 to print from my computer and bought a HP LaserJet 2035N to replace the the 1200 which is installed on one of the other computers. Network Ready Printer Not! Only printed one copy at a time. HP said they couldn't have all of their drivers workable for Windows 7 64 bit.

I came across your solution today, and my 1200 is back in place working away. The P2035N is going to the attic to sit hopefully for another 5-10 years!
