Apparently all my drivers work, other than the "Multimedia Audio Controller", "Network Controller" and the "Video Controller". If anyone knows for sure what site I need to go to get these drivers, I would very much so appreciate it if you could kindly share your answer with me... I feel just as upset & pissed as you were, when the person who sold u Win. 7 said " OOOHHH YEAH, Windows 7 will work great on your computer with no problems," so u trust them and then shell out the 120.00 bucks for the upgrade and now we r sitting here hoping someone knows something about how we can fix the problem we created, for trusting some idiot, who is laughing at us cuz he had no clue what in the hell he is talking about... So, hopefully there is a kind soul out there that can help this mad old soul of mine.. Thank you, Rollin007

This is why they created Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, so you could take steps before hand to ensure there are drivers available. The older the system, the more difficult it becomes, especially when your product support page only lists XP drivers.

To upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 on your Dell Inspiron 6000, I used the XP Sound and the XP Video drivers and both worked just fine for Windows 7. I just downloaded the drivers from Dell's website linked below and both XP drivers are compatible with Windows 7. My particular Dell model has the Sigmatel Audio and Intel i910GML chipset and Video.

Problem Solved!

Inspiron 6000 driver issues.

I also have an Inspiron 6000 system running windows 7 professional. I have no driver issues, as I have been using the current xp drivers, but you can't use the setup.exe file. Any of you should know about attempting to run a different version file (from xp) to a different environment (to w7) will not work. You have to extract the file content of the driver file you downloaded and create a new directory to load the contents into. You will need to notice where the .inf file is (file with a little gear in the lower lefthand corner of the icon, which willsay it is the setup information file (the actual driver load information you will need). Once you save the content to an easy location to remember, go to the device manager, then click on the display adapter, then update driver, you will see a window with 2 options on it, click the bottom option to look for the driver yourself, then another window will appear, click the bottom choice once again to pick a device to load, pick the device, then click have disk (the directory you will now browse for) is the disk you have (the file is on your hard drive), follow the directory until you see the .inf file and click on it, the screen will show you the driver you will be installing. Click next to load the driver, once loaded it will prompt you to restart the system, simply restart, and your driver will be installed and working. Windows is not the smartest operating system around, but you must tell it what you want it to do. My name is JD, and I am a certified Dell systems technician, and you have to old school load these drivers and they will allow your hardware to function. good luck.
