    Hey guys,
I have one of these probs with sound devices and games. As I disabled sound my games work prefect. Need HELP!
Could some1 tell me how should I edit the last regedit file, that with 8 F's? (FFFFFFFF)
I need to use some editor, I suppose that be Hex?
Could u tell me? I think that would help me for sure....

''Leave the multimedia class scheduler service running, but disable its network throttling "feature":

    • Open regedit
    • Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
    • There will be an entry for network performance throttling, default value is 10; set it to FFFFFFFF hex (willl look like 0xFFFFFFFF to the right of the entry)
    • Reboot''

press and hold the windows key then hit r on your keyboard. This will open the run box. Type in regedit into the box and hit enter.

Expand the tree on the left hand side following the path laid out above.
    Code:
    hkey_local_machine
         Software
              Microsoft
                   Windows NT
                         Current Version
                                 Multimedia
                                      System Profile
Now find the item that says network performance throttling and double click on it (in the right side)

In the box enter eight F

    click ok

then go to file in upper left and select exit.

reboot and test your stuff with sound.

I have this fix in a .reg file but I don't know if it OK to post it.

Note that if you don't have a dual core processor you're going to have trouble playing games like Counter Strike: Source, and Team Fortress 2. They require a lot of processing power, and if your CPU can't handle it, you'll get micro stuttering.

I've actually runing 64 processor, 32 win 7. This 8F edit helped for battlefield 1942, but that is still a prob for bf2, the ping is just wild and I get kicked by PB (Punkbuster) and the reason is PB heartbeat stops....I also have no sound left on bf2... strange... I gonna try some other games online will check if the prob persists... gonna report here.

I've reinstalled bf2, luckily now I have the sound, but the pb problem with reason caled Punkbstr heartbeats stop persisted, so I tried to uninstall the Avg antivirus and it worked.... But as I want to have some protection I swapped avgto Avira antivirus, and I got a different Pb prob called corrupted memory/file [124003].... tried to turn off the avira, and same happened pb heartbeats stop prob.... I think I gonna give up on BF2 other games somehow act ok...

hm, I think I solved the prob, I went to task manager, to processes to set the priority to HIGH for the punkbstrA and punkbustrB, that helped not to be kicked for same reasons.... anyways BF2 on win 7 and my system is still lot different than xp now it is a bit less stable, short lags....

Have you done a search on this problem. I recall a PB bug in windows 7.

    1. Right click on the BF2 shortcut on desktop and click properties, set your admin privileges to full control for bf2 and make sure you have "run as administrator" checked.

    2. Right click on the shortcut on the desktop and click open file location and then do the same admin privileges on the actual BF2.exe

    3. Last most important step, I think Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 somehow dont allow Punkbuster update under Windows 7 so you have to do it manually.

Go to this link and download PBSetup:
    PunkBuster Online Countermeasures

Install it and select your game and update Punkbuster through that program.

So I have been messing with this problem for weeks now:
    Think I did around 10 fresh win7 64 installs
    I only tested HL2DM + UT2004 as it's all I really game
My ping never jumps. It's like the game pauses for 1 sec every 30sec or so.
Enjoy really nice ping always below 30.
    Think I officially hate WIN7 64bit OS !

    System specs:
    System specs:
    Asus p5k premium
    C2D 6850
    4GB Ballistix pc8500
    ATI HD4870 1GB
    Audigy2 value
    Corsair 520w
    windows 7 ultimate 64bit

I have a pal with almost identical hardware. Only difference is gfx= Nvidia 8800gts, different harddisks and different monitor. No lag on his end

    • Fiddled with different soundcards
    • Different network cards
    • Fiddled with different drivers and also microsofts own
    • Tried this supposed fix: Reduce game network latency in Windows 7 or Vista Life & Code worked crap
    • Tried this supposed fix:Stop and disable the "Multimedia Class Scheduler" service Run regedit and go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Audiosrv"
Double click on the entry "DependOnService" and delete the line with "MMCSS" from the text box
      worked crap
    • Tried this supposed fix: Open regedit
      Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
There will be an entry for network performance throttling, default value is 10; set it to FFFFFFFF hex (willl look like 0xFFFFFFFF to the right of the entry)
Reboot Do I need to say. Worked crap
    • Fowarded ports in my router even though it suports UPnP port mapping and this have never been necessary
    • Disabled windows firewall completely
    • deleted my whole steam folder and redownloaded on a fresh win7 install

    Hi all,
I have Windows 7 x64 to a new pc (amd phenom quad core, ati 8570, 500 gb sata2, 6 gb ram) and was very mad with having to wait for 3 minutes to get to a server in COD4 (stuck at Setting up Game or Loading Map), so i tried both the registry fix and the command that are mentioned here (ofcourse, after having reinstalled 2 times the game, having reinstalled the router settings, having enabled all the network tweaks of yamicsoft windows 7 manager etc etc)

My ping didnt get reduced (i'm still at 110, when with xp i was at 80), but at least i dont have to wait hours to join the map.

Also i found this fix that seems similar to the registry fix that the OP suggested and i think it will help some of you.

Check it out and thanks the OP
