Time now for that long avoided re-install of win7 on laptop
Setup:
Sager NP8760 Laptop
Motherboard: Clevo W870CU
Mobo chipset: Ibex Peak-M PM55
HDD: 2 500GB Hatachi drives
I seem to have scrambled the system drive and a small boot partition
to the point where the machine can not be booted and has ead to the
error blocking a boot-up shown in the included image and shown in txt
below:
=========================
# 1) Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer
# 2) Chose your language setting, then click next
# 3) Click 'repair your computer'
# Status: 0xc000000f
# Info: The Boot selection failed becaue a required device
# is inaccessible

I'd already been having some problems over months and have
been thinking to re-install and start over after nearly 5 yrs. So,
rather than go into a long account of how it all happened etc . .
I just want to reinstall now. It's been due for a while.
Is there any chance the noted error in the attached image would
NOT be fixed in a full reformat and re-install?
My main trouble Is that I don't have anything left of my purchase in the
way of recovery sort of info or aids.
I have the invoice, serial number and windows 7 sticker still barely legible.
I have written the folks I purchased from and await an answer concerning
recover/reinstall info/guidance.
Not sure if I ever had a re-install disc. Don't remember. And also
not sure if this setup has a recovery partition or the like. If something
like that can be hidden from acronis then it is possible I guess.
From working with acronis backup tools over the years:
I can say that the system disk has a small (what appears to be boot
related) partition of 200mb. I have long ago carved the C drive into
three pieces. 153 GB for OS, 200mb boot stuff, and 300+ GB for
other uses.
There is also a second 500GB drive, probably 1/2 full with photos,
adobe projects, videos and music.
I hoped someone here would either know from the vintage etc or be
able to tell me how to find out about recovery options on this
laptop and access it, etc.
But really I need the basics of how to go at this. And so, hoping
some of you can point me to some walk-thru sort of documentation.
I haven't installed an OS since the early days of windows XP, so am
not too sharp on what to do with win7 or anything about boot recovery
discs.
Any pointers or help .. will be appreciated greatly.
