Solved How To Move/Delete the "My Dell" Icon On The Taskbar

Just bought a new Dell Inspiron 3000 (actually a 3847) and reinstalled Win 7 Professional. There is an icon at the far right of the taskbar for "My Dell" (it's a blue circle, outlined in white, with a white wrench inside). Right clicking on it brings up a list of Dell tasks (notification,checkup,backup,system info,support,settings and finally the overall My Dell program) but right clicking again does not bring up a list with properties,etc.

Cannot move or unpin it - cannot tell what it references,etc. Any ideas??

Yes the link does explain what it is (as I surmised by it's name) ... but it doesn't explain how to get rid of it from my taskbar. Right click doesn't give the option of 'unpinning'.

You can always hide it.
Right click on the Taskbar, then click Properties.
Click the Customize button.
Select from the list the program you want to hide and choose either hide icon and notifications, or only show notifications. Hope this helps.

I wonder if there is a post over on the Windows 10 forums about this too, since you can no longer select "Never show icon and notifications" without going through hoops

Use msconfig and check Start and Services for Dell entries. Disable to see which one is the My Dell source.
