So you did a "clean startup" (so disabled all startup stuff). Now you can logon succesfully and see your desktop. All is fine.... as long as you DON'T use the keyboard or mouse. Without using the mouse and keyboard I can see my desktop for many minutes. Correct? Very sure?Step 7 - disable auto restart doesn't work...it still restarts and doesn't give a BSOD.
I did the clean restart step 1. It looks like I can login normally now. The problem is that as soon as I either press any key (on the laptop's keyboard, not an external one) or move my finger over the trackpad mouse, it reboots - so any interrupt of any sort is causing it to reboot. I can try to do step 2 - isolate a specific program - but not sure which direction to go. It seems like selective startup is sort-of preventing the problem but only until I move the mouse/press a key. Thoughts?
With a normal boot it boots almost immediately after logon.
Revert back to normal boot please
sure you disabled auto restart on system crash? Check eventlog for relevant info
