Laptop only boots in safe mode - sfc can't repair all files

Step 7 - disable auto restart doesn't work...it still restarts and doesn't give a BSOD.

I did the clean restart step 1. It looks like I can login normally now. The problem is that as soon as I either press any key (on the laptop's keyboard, not an external one) or move my finger over the trackpad mouse, it reboots - so any interrupt of any sort is causing it to reboot. I can try to do step 2 - isolate a specific program - but not sure which direction to go. It seems like selective startup is sort-of preventing the problem but only until I move the mouse/press a key. Thoughts?
So you did a "clean startup" (so disabled all startup stuff). Now you can logon succesfully and see your desktop. All is fine.... as long as you DON'T use the keyboard or mouse. Without using the mouse and keyboard I can see my desktop for many minutes. Correct? Very sure?

With a normal boot it boots almost immediately after logon.

Revert back to normal boot please

sure you disabled auto restart on system crash? Check eventlog for relevant info

So an external usb keyboard attached works normally?
External mouse works as well?

Yes, that's correct.

Yes, auto restart is disabled. I tried locating the event log (which is supposed to go under systemroot/memory.dmp; systemroot = c:\windows) but couldn't find it.

I was running into a lot of weird issues like it would sometimes login ok with "clean startup" but not other times. Sometimes moving the mouse would not cause a reboot but every couple of times it would.

So I decided to try doing a clean install following the instructions here:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html

Laptop boots now and works ok - except that it doesn't have a lot of the drivers that I need (which is maybe expected?) like the wireless drivers. Where do I get the latest set of drivers...is there a package I can download? Thanks.

Goto "Device manager" and give me the "hardware id's" of all devices in the "Other devices" group. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96442-device-manager-finding-unknown-devices.html
In "device manager" expand "network adapters" and "display adapters" . Then post a screenshot of "device manager" output. In device manager->network adapters is a network adapater visible without an exclamation mark? If so ... it's the wired network card. Can you connect succesfully to the internet wired? If succesfully... connect wired temporarily. Search for and install the windows updates. Most likely a lot of drivers will be installed as well automagically. Post a screenshot of "device manager" again.

Try to fill in all your computer specs. http://www.sevenforums.com/profile.php?do=extra see see How to - System Specs

No exclamation marks and "other devices" anymore in "device manager"?
"device manager"->"display adapters": What do you see?
