I read everything, and found this one slightly amusing.

Since it isn't a story spoiler, I thought it would be OK to post. (I know no one wants a plot spoiler)

Is it a reference to what I think it is? Maybe not, but what it made me think of anyway.

The title of the log was 'Cake"

i would have never read it in game, good eye!!

My point was that if you read the computer terminals, you would have seen this. However I do realize not everyone reads all the computer terminals in the game.... and not everyone is found.

And to be fair, I'm sure I missed an item or two myself

Well, reading the terminals does help with the game as they provide clues and add to the overall story of the quests you're on.

That's why I asked how else would you play?

Not meaning to offend anyone and this is just my opinion of this game.

It's by far the most buggy and poorly written and poorly coded game of all time. I also found it extremely boring and repetitive. I made it all the way to the end and I was left asking the question,...what was the point to all of this?

Sorry but I'll take a regular old FPS game anyday over this fiasco. And people said that Crysis was poorly coded LOL.

Strange, I haven't encountered any bugs, I'm far from finishing the game. I'm doing a bunch of quests and forgot about the main one. So far it's very enjoyable.

not encountered any bugs? are there no bloatflies or radscorpions about?

seriously now folks, i've not had many bugs either. sometimes i notice the odd dodgy path-finding issue, where npc's try walking into rocks (which makes them real easy to shoot), apart from that i'm scratching my head trying to think of anything...maybe the odd brief graphic glitch whilst loading textures, and sometimes if you kill somebody the body can twitch and shudder for ages making a godawful noise if it's in an awkward place - but these are real minor.

only one crash so far, a random ctd whilst out walking, wasn't even going through a door or anything...

...and for a modern game in its first week of release, one ctd in 40 or so hours isn't bad at all, especially as fallout 3 crashed like crazy on me.

The biggest issue I have with the game is the microstuttering or rendering issue as distant images come into focus in open areas.

Haven't noticed any issues with bloatflies or radscorpions, I have seen the NPC walking into rocks or getting stuck in places, but this is one I've seen in quite a few games.

Yeah the game has some bugs, but not as bad some other games, and Bethesda is pretty quick in getting patches released, two thus far, which is a plus.

As for Fallout 3, the only time I had bad microstuttering in that game is when the radio was playing. In New Vegas, it doesn't matter whether the radio is on or not, the microstuttering is bad.

I guess you could argue that the radio issue has been fixed in New Vegas.... At least it’s not causing the microstuttering

So.... we should all complain all day long about a few minor problems??? Yes, we know there are problems, we listed them. Now what??? Complain all day and all night long?

Outside of the microstutterig, which IS annoying, I personally don't think the game is as bad as you make it out to be. Perhaps that's why "everyone is just shruggin it off" ???

BTW.... Have you filed a complaint with Bethesda, filed a bug report???

if you like playing games in wich the coding is mediocre, more power to you. im just saying if im gonna drop 60$ on a game, i expect it to work like its supposed to. dont we deserve that much? or am i gonna pay so they can slack off?

Some of these bugs are nothing new if you played any of Bethsedas game based on this engine.
Remember, some were around even with Oblivion & Fallout3. So a few are just issues with the game engine itself.

The stuttering is one good example.

But mods like the the Script Extender+Anti Stuitter plug ins work nicely for this.
Sadly, not avialable for NV yet



Beyond whats already mentioned, I had my game completely freeze on me 1 time.

Ive got almost 40hrs playtime in so far, so thats not bad. No CTD's though for me.

Still get the slowdowns with multiple NPCs around shooting at me.
And the occasional stuck critter.

Oh, and I get issues with the launcher at times. Not everytime, but maybe every 4th launch or something along that line.
Start the game and get the "FONV launcher has stopped working"
But immediatley start the game again and it works fine.

Overall, buggy yes. But from my experiences so far, not really all that bad. Ive encountered very few considering.

i know FONV uses a similar engine like the one on Oblivion and FO3. i played both those games on the 360 and the PC, and not once did i ever face a bug on them. (lets not forget that FO3 and Win7 dont get along)
i just thought it wouldnt be like this, the game barely came out and its full of bugs. i honestly didnt see that coming.

Thoughts on D3D9 fix

The owner of TweakGuides.com (Koroush Ghazi) has posted his opinion on the D3D9 Fix for performance issues in New Vegas.....

I've been receiving a lot of emails about this, so I thought it important to finally speak out about it. An unofficial 'fix' to performance issues in Fallout: New Vegas has been doing the rounds for the past week as some sort of global solution to all problems. I do not recommend this D3D9 Fix at all, as it causes Fallout: New Vegas to falsely redetect your graphics card as a lower model, and in turn use a lower shader package. It can reduce image quality and cause a range of long-term problems.

I've not tried either fix so I can't comment on them.

As for the D3D9 Fix

This .dll file is essentially a light-wrapper for a 'supported' video card's .dll, which tricks the game into configuring its FaceGen software (which was causing a performance problem) in a more efficient manner." (HT @ "4000qails")

This works with both Ati and Nvidia however the one at the below link is IMO the superior choice for ATI cards. It allows transparency AA so things like trees and grass will look much better if you have AA on
