Solved Can I delete individual "restore Points" and how ?

Want to delete a bunch of old system restore points...but if I read the info on the attached jpg it looks like delete all points or nothing ?

Am I missing something or Can I delete individual restore points ?

Win7 will not let you delete individual restore points but you can use a 3rd party tool QRM Plus Manager.

if you use the disk cleanup utility, you can delete all but the most recent restore point.

my computer/ right-click the drive where windows is installed/properties/"disk cleanup" button (next to the pie chart)/"clean up system files" button/"more options" tab

If you disable SR all points are removed. You can make a new point immediatly, if you are sure the OS is ok.

Sytem restore are indvidiual points. Each one is a separate picture of your OS on the day that you made the point. You can delete all but one and that one will still function

Right click Ccleaner.exe, run as administrator

OR

Use Ccleaner while logged into an administrator account, not a standard user account.

I assume that is what Richc46 means.

I do not have to use an administration prompt to see the restore points or run any program on my computer. I have used a HIPS program to replace UAC starting way back in Vista could that have something to to with it because I did not set up an administrator account on my Win 7 computer?

Yes. Even the Windows Disc Cleanup Utility will save just the most recent restore point and delete the rest and that's all that is needed to restore the computer.

Good to know. I used to have to deal with backups many, many years ago on this old UNIX system with tape drives, and whenever we would have to restore a database, we would have to restore a once a month full copy, then all the incrementals since the full, in order. And you had better hope that you had all the tapes and they all were ok. Getting to the 30th or 40th tape and finding out it was corrupt on a couple occasions still leaves me weary of any backup solution, lol. This will save me some space on my netbook though, thanks!
