I would like to delete individual Restore points but there is no clear way in Win 7 other than deleting ALL of the restore points. I have read elsewhere that CCLEANER does a fine job of deleting single restore points. Has anyone used CCLEANER to accomplish this function & were there any problems with your system afterwards or any problems at all?

Thank you for any information you can provide. Bud Rose...

How to delete individual Restore Points in Win 7

Hi ignatatsonic,

Thank you for trying out the individual delete of a restore point. Your test gives me a little more confidence in doing it myself as I have not used CCLEANER myself yet. I want to keep my oldest restore point but have a bunch in between my oldest & latest that I want to delete both manual & system created. Will let you know later how it works out.

Hi All,

I took your advice & ran CCLEANER to delete restore points. It worked like a charm. I tried deleting a single
restore point & then deleting multiple restore points at the same time. All worked great. They no longer show up in the list of restore points.

Once again, a BIG THANK YOU to those that replied to my request for help!

I did the same. Although the restore points seemed removed, they are still on the hard drive, whcih defeats saving space.

Ali Baba, did you already try shortening the byte-space allocated to System Restore Points? That would leave you within 1 or 2 SRPs of the number you would like to see saved, as new ones roll in, the oldest ones are deleted.

Yes, I knew how to do that, but I wanted to delete only selected restore points and not necessarily from bottom up and in order. The normal tools within Windows allows deleting all or through "disk Cleanup" all but the last one. The CCleaner appears to let you select and remove restore points and the the restore program confirms and only shows the restore points indicated on CCleaner. But when you look into the "System Volume Information" where the restore points are saved. They are still there and occupying space. The shrinking od allocated space will delete enough restore points to stay within the space. Thank you for your help. The reason I wrote the post was that the post implied that CCleaner was doing the job. All it is doing is editing the restore list and not really deleting the actual file. If other people know different, I like to hear from them.

Ali Baba, did you reboot the computer after deleting the System Restore Points. Often things don't actually get deleted until you do a reboot, which can be confusing.
