Best TV Tuner Card for Windows 7?

Now that Windows 7 RC Came out, the Theater 550 Card doesn't work. I tried the Hauppauge card and it also has issues with Windows 7 (Freezes all the time). What card is recomended by Microsoft.

It seems as much time and money I throw at the RC, Media Center doesnt work in Windows 7. Worked awesome in Vista (I'm going back to vista... ewww) It's supposed to enable awesome television for the home, you would think there would be some decent cards out there that anyone could buy at Best Buy or Fry's.

My Hauppauge Win Tv HVR-2250 card has worked just fine with Vista and all Win 7 builds... I watch tv on it all the time, using Windows Media Center.

This card works well with all builds sofar of Windows7. I havent tried installing their drivers.

A lot of Hauppage cards work just fine on Windows Media Center (even when their OWN software doesn't always work).

I'm using TV -HVR 1110 ( a DVB-T type of card) no probs even with Hauppage software.

Pic of Ms Lumley making mincemeat out of UK Govt. I'd vote for her to be PM or President of ANY country.

However for Hauppage and Windows 7 you might like to get some info from the Hauppage Forum here for more drivers, application updates etc.

If you DO attempt to use Hauppage software like WinTV7 install it in VISTA SP2 compatability mode or the chances are it won't work. You need to be running the RC (build 7100) of W7 -- earlier builds DID have considerable problems with some Hauppage cards.

Believe it or not, I even got my ATI TV Wonder PCI (most basic one they ever made) working completely on 7 and the Media Center in it. I used the XP drivers. I forget if I did anything special to install it...maybe I used the device manager. Good luck.

I have the same card and it seems to have moods. Yesterday it refused to work, couldn't find the tuner. Today, no problem. Using Vista Catalyst Center and drivers.

Fusion 3 Gold problem

When I purchased a new X58 motherboard, with 6 gigs of DDR3 and an ATI4850 video card, I purchased and installed Vista 64 ultimate mainly for picture and video editing and expected no problems with my old Fusion 3 HDTV card as 64 bit drivers were available. It started out a bit jerky which surprised me but after a few Vista and ATI updates it now works fine. However Windows 7 RC 64 ultimate, which installed yesterday without any driver disks, has even greater trouble with the Fusion display. Not only is it jerky with any decoder but the sound is broken up and distorted. All drivers have been checked and updated except for the NIC where the latest driver STILL needs to be rolled back.
It seems strange that a TV card which will play with really old CPUs, old operating systems, outdated video cards and little memory cannot play smoothly on a highish end system with the latest OS.

The Win 7 Media Center is a whole new ball game as of build 7100 and I think it has a few teething problems. No doubt it will all be sorted in the RTM build, I hope.

By then I'll probably have a new 'puter and am considering putting Hauppauge's HVR 2250 in it. Hope I'm doing the right thing.

My current lounge room machine is an amd x4 2.6ghz 2gb ram on an asus m3n-vm-hdmi motherboard, i am running a compro videomate e700 dual digital tuner, and a Compro dvbt-100 inside giving me 3 tuners in one media centre setup - this setup wasn't possible on vista - any version.

I have a compro e650 in the cupboard that i'm gonna give a go in there too - it wouldn't even work by itself in vista and i never tried it in xp

I have a Compro E800F that works fine with Windows 7, auto detected by W7 no Compro drivers used, I alsop have TinyTwin usb that works using the supplied drivers on cd.
I havn't tried the Compro software because it's crap, won't even work in Vista properly, works in Media Center ok but even changing channels using Compro can lock it up.
I can record on all 3 tuners at the same time without any problems using Media Center.

I'm going to have to second this one. I swear by my 2250 and hasn't let me down, yet. Neither XP nor Vista played well with the HD stations, but Win7 had no trouble whatsoever. I don't recommend their viewing software though; stick to Media Center.

I think the one thing we all can agree on is most cards are pretty good just depends if you want 1 or 2 tuners : or analogue and digital and maybe fm.... The main thing seems to be that if you've got one just use media center to watch them cause the bundled stuff is mostly rubbish.
if you just want it to record and not watch -then i'd suggest google searching for tvscheduler pro (formerly DVB-Websheduler pro) it uses a java base and less than 3% of cpu resources on a p4 single core 2.4 - when recording. unlimited tuners. and many options for getting the epg info.

Well, the Nova-TD 500 has 2 digtal (DVB) tuners, now, I can't see myself living without 2 tuners, it's definitly a must have. Watching TV while record TV or recording 2 TV channels.

The Hauppauge HVR 2250 allows you to record or watch two programmes simultaneously in the one card.

For Cable/QAM for just geneal DVB though then the TD-500 would do and would allow each tuner to have it's own aerial.

Well, the Nova-TD 500 has 2 digtal (DVB) tuners, now, I can't see myself living without 2 tuners, it's definitly a must have. Watching TV while record TV or recording 2 TV channels.

Since one HD started in april i often need to have 3 tuners running at once my wife won't watch the sport and sometimes it's on 3 stations at once!!

PS. I also got a compro u100 usb tuner to work with the others giving 4 tuners at once and exhausting WMC7's available tuner positions.
