Like so many others, I only ever use Internet Explorer when I am absolutely FORCED to have to launch it in order to get select few websites to work properly - such as in the case of "Active X Control". In my opinion, the practice of FORCING anyone into using a piece of browsing software they do not want or need for any other purpose than for "Active X Control" should be illegal. It pisses me off, to be quite frank but I have neither heard of nor figured out how to force these sites to play nice with anything other than Internet Explorer, to "trick" them into thinking that Firefox (or whatever) IS in fact Internet Explorer, and so I'm stuck with it.
But, for everything (and I do mean everything) else, I strictly use Firefox. Period.
I just like the layout, the sheer number of possibilities concerning customization, I like all of the extensions, themes (Aero Fox III is my favorite), etc. I like how blazing fast it can be hacked with the right settings in "about:config", its simply the best - for my personal needs.
I am not saying it is perfect... I don't believe ANY web browser will ever be "perfect" because there are just too many variables today... Firefox is not without flaw. In fact, it has a good many of them... especially how it will continue eating more and more and more System RAM the longer it is open without being closed and it's cache wiped out to the point of dragging the system down, or the random crashes it experiences on intensive loads (a good number of open tabs, particularly in flash or PDF documents), or how it sometimes fails to launch at all claiming it is already running (when it is not).
BUT - I STILL prefer it over Internet Explorer and happily take those flaws in stride because that is how much I absolutely detest Internet Explorer!
I could give a damn about "security"... we all know there's really no such thing over the WWW! That's why we have "backup and restore", people - use it!
