I have been using IE8 since I installed Windows 7 on my machine and have had no problems I use it's protected mode, spybot s&d, and MSE to make it even more secure. I have tried chrome but found no use for 2 browsers to be installed on 1 system when their was not a dramatic difference. I'm looking forward to IE9.

Guys it seems to me that each of us will punt for our own favorite browser. But the way I look at it is that I will try and have all the ones I like available to give me the widest choice. At the end of the day, if we stick religeously to one browser of another its like being an ostrich burying its head...you just end up with sand inyour eyes!!

It come down to people's choice ...
If people think it take 2 minutes to load a page is Ok then it's fine with them .
for me, i will go with the simplest & fastest one ...like Chrome ..(No add on ...)

I agree, 500Mb of RAM is not that much.
For the record, mine rarely hits over 150k, even with 4 browsers and 25 tabs open.

For the truth's sake, I must mention that IE8 is the most secure browser MS ever put on the table. But, that's just it. I don't know how many IE8 hotfixes were installed after I upgraded from IE6 on my XP machine.
As for browsing experience - God save us all! Slugish, memory demanding, with slow javascript engine, pays no respect about web-standards... No bookmarklets... Stinky accelerators...
Man, I am sticking at my Firefox/Chrome combination - at all costs!
IE8 - too slow, too stupid AND TOO LATE!
Check IE9 beta - it's far better then IE8 (not sure about security - it's still beta). It's a proof MS can learn. It looks and behave very similiar to Chrome.

i personally use FF, i have in the past tried other browsers such as IE, CHROME, OPERA and SAFARI. i always however go back to FF. for no other reason than i like it. it does what i want it to do and that's pretty much it.

I have never had any issues with Internet Explorer and I am loving IE9, but I do tend to use Firefox alot more because it's what I am used to and what everyone uses in the workplace where I work :)

I have watched the videos about chrome. They have said that it is very safe. If one tab gets broken into they can only get into that one tab. They can not get into the others. Same with crashing. Things like that.

The Story Behind Google Chrome. I found this very interesting. Witch made me like Google Chrome even more.

I agree that ie8 and the beta of ie9 are much safer and than older versions of ie. While the beta i tried for a short while of ie9 WAS very much faster than ie8 that could just be perception on my part. I also tried Firefox and Chrome (and about 10 other browsers !) I personally went back to Opera 10.63. Extremely fast, safe and easy to learn. I think which browser you use is an individual preference. If security is ALL you want..... try Iron browser!

I started using FF because i thought it was safer, maybe this is not the case now but i cant stand IE now. Been using it in collage the last while and i have just gave up on it. i just prefer FF now over them all. its just what im used to using.

I just use it with ad ons and find no problems, i find it a lot faster and easier to use then IE too.

Kinda like my friend who voted for obama because he said everyone else was...
Don't even go there, Bootz. You'll open up a whole 'nother can of worms. Even people from other countries understand the name of the President of the United States should be capitalized, Bootz.

I can't believe you even made such a statement on this forum, Bootz.

If you want to continue this, Bootz, I can direct you to a more appropriate venue.

I've tried many different browsers and found they ALL have their good points and they ALL have their bad points...

kmeleon, if you simply want fast nothing compares to a configured kmeleon for speed

maxthon, maxthon has a really neat feature that lets you change the rendering engine betwenn firefox and ie and opera to allow for multiple engines in the same browser, great feature

I've tried chrome and opera both and wasn't impressed with either

ie is something I use only when forced to

firefox!!! I've been a dedicated firefox user for years, with proper configuration, some tweaks and addons it's blazing fast, loads really fast and has some really great addons that will have your firefox doing things none of the other browsers will even consider doing not to mention what you can do with the real estate on web pages

some people don't want to spend any time configuring their browsers, they want what they have out of the box and that's it but if you don't mind spending a lil time to set your browser up then nothing beats firefox imho

as a final note, don't blame your browser for bad surfing/security habits, if your habits are good you can do pretty much whatever you want and not have many worries

Like so many others, I only ever use Internet Explorer when I am absolutely FORCED to have to launch it in order to get select few websites to work properly - such as in the case of "Active X Control". In my opinion, the practice of FORCING anyone into using a piece of browsing software they do not want or need for any other purpose than for "Active X Control" should be illegal. It pisses me off, to be quite frank but I have neither heard of nor figured out how to force these sites to play nice with anything other than Internet Explorer, to "trick" them into thinking that Firefox (or whatever) IS in fact Internet Explorer, and so I'm stuck with it.

But, for everything (and I do mean everything) else, I strictly use Firefox. Period.

I just like the layout, the sheer number of possibilities concerning customization, I like all of the extensions, themes (Aero Fox III is my favorite), etc. I like how blazing fast it can be hacked with the right settings in "about:config", its simply the best - for my personal needs.

I am not saying it is perfect... I don't believe ANY web browser will ever be "perfect" because there are just too many variables today... Firefox is not without flaw. In fact, it has a good many of them... especially how it will continue eating more and more and more System RAM the longer it is open without being closed and it's cache wiped out to the point of dragging the system down, or the random crashes it experiences on intensive loads (a good number of open tabs, particularly in flash or PDF documents), or how it sometimes fails to launch at all claiming it is already running (when it is not).

BUT - I STILL prefer it over Internet Explorer and happily take those flaws in stride because that is how much I absolutely detest Internet Explorer!

I could give a damn about "security"... we all know there's really no such thing over the WWW! That's why we have "backup and restore", people - use it! :p
