I would also try a repair installation from the Windows CD at this point because you don't have much to lose. Repair installs fix problems just like the ones you seem to be having on a regular basis. Recent example > http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/126588-win-7-pro-network-problem.html

The batch file is as easy as clicking on it then hit save and run.

I forgot to say I tried the batch file first, it ran successfully but didn't fix the problem.

Yes but the repair install did LOL. Either way I made the right call.

Happy to hear it... sometimes the best method is to just try the repair as you could end up wasting more time trying other things and failing!

yeah, funny thing though, it told me to uninstall a couple programs first (Roxio and Adobe Encore). I uninstalled, got it working, now can't get Encore reinstalled! Always something.... (I'm on the Adobe site now).

Yeah, I know. I usually do too. But it WAS broke....

SteveH - I have this same exact issue. How did you go about doing the OS repair? I have an HP computer that didn't come with an install CD.
