Hi there!

I have a tech question for you to solve! Basically when playing GTA 4 my PC always reboots after 15-20minutes of gameplay. I think this is either not enough power or overheating.

PC specs:
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 4.02Ghz (Followed your over clocking guide thanks ;) )
8.00GB DDR3 RAM
ASUS IV Formula
GTX 470
Artic Cooling 700W psu

Now my case is a Xigmatek asgard http://images.tekheads.co.uk/product_images/large/xigmatek_asgard_front_back_3-TEK.jpg

Cooling Wise:
Corsair H70 > Pushing out hot air (CPU Temps Fine)
2 Front fans > Sucking in
2 Side fans > Sucking in

Is this over heating or lack of power?
Can you help me??

It's more than likely your overclocking is to high and unstable or video card (which you don't mention)

Lower your overclock back to stock speeds and let us know if it still crashes 15-20 mins into the game.

Yes, it can be your overclock.

How many instances of Prime did you run? If not 6, or 3 instances of Orthos, then you haven't actually stress tested the machine yet.

If you are sure it isn't the problem, why ask for help?

Just because it can run one intensive app, doesn't mean others won't bring it down. A game will hit the processor AND the video card, raising the heat in your case more than just a CPU-intensive app. Since it is so easy to try...instead of contradicting the people trying to help you, just give it a show.

I have now tried and it seems it is. Could it be down to a non-stable OC or just heat?

Can anyone give me a good stable O/C for my system check my specs below.

That's part of the OC'ing game you have to play with your system. Someone with your exact same set of hardware could get a higher stable OC than you, so you can't just say certain settings are a stable OC. You've gotta play around with it.

I'd suggest you check around on proper OC forums to see what users with similar setups are achieving.

That is unique to each system/processor/PSU etc. What works for one, might not work for another.

You really need to spend some time reading up on the subject. You don't know what you're doing and that could lead you to break your rig. You cannot ask the question you just did... ever... for the reasons listed above: every rig is different even if they're built with identical parts.

Take your time, there's no rush. As it stands, you can play BC2 with stock clocks perfectly fine... no reason to break the machine over it.

The overclock and GTA 4, you may need to go directly to that gaming site and see what prob's others are having, i know that game is notorious for having issues. Those are the places i and others would start looking.
