Hi all, I have a problem.

This is a network issue, but it happens when I'm trying to play C&C Tiberium wars.

The problem is that I'm playing on my W7home machine, and my friend is using XP home, and we can't see each other the the "gameroom"

We are playing thru LAN, and a Dlink router.

There must be a W7home issue, because i tried to install cnc on another XP home machine, and it worked straight away.

I think I remember something about incompatibility between W7 and Xp, about security, something, d*m..

Some short fact:

192.168.1.199 My ip
192.168.1.177 my xp computer
192.168.1.33 his ip
192.168.1.1 router ip

I have tried with all firewalls disabled.
I have tried Wifi, and cable.

I have even logged in from the XP computer to the W7 with my username and pw, but the same result.

I have played W7 to W7 without problems before...

So, there must be something with W7 and the network to do...

Anybody got any suggestion??

Yep, win 7 uses "homegroup" as default networking. when you set up the network you chose "home" as opposed to work. Homegroup (home) uses IPv6, and is supposed to be used with win 7 machines only. XP machines have problems with IPv6. You can fix the problem by creating a new network connection using "workgroup".

Let us know if that doesnt help the problem.

I'm not sure i fully understood that.
However, all my computers has workgroup S.E.T.I, And I don't use homegroup on W7

The computers can see each other, and login to them, so that is working just fine.

I've searched the net all over, and many seems to have the same problem,
It would really suck if I needed to install XP to play it..

Update!

I found out something strange:

I have 1 !gbit lan networkcable, 192.168.1.x, where the game are being played on.
and one Wifi N 192.168.0.x that are connected to the net.

IF i disable the WIFI controller in the controll panel, the gameworks fine, but ofcourse not the internet..

I have tried to change the automatic mesure so the local network is prioritized, the game won't work.

I have tried to change the automatic mesure so the Internet is prioritized, the game won't work.

I have to disable the networkcard, to get it work!
(it is the same error on windows XP)...

(This thread maybe should be moved to "GAMES"?)
