White Nike's, Wrangler Jeans, T-shirts. Or colared,pocketted cotton short sleve shirts.
Jackets are always Nascar Team Jackets. My favorite is my Dale Earnhardt one.

In Florida, this is how I usually look (my cats don't like the beach, it's a friend's dog):



Otherwise it's shorts and polos, unless it gets chilly, then it's Levis and polos. In meetings, it would be dress slacks, a button down shirt and shoes that match my belt. Anything more formal definitely requires a suit and tie - or a tux ... maybe ...

When it gets below 40, I toss on my full length cashmere and wool blend black coat.

Jeans and a T-shirt. Every once in a while I'll throw on a double-layer to look good for an occasion, but I'm simplistic when it comes to how I dress.

This is the kind of jeans I'm talking about. These bad boys are made of 17oz hand woven denim. Made on American and British handlooms they bought of us a century ago.
They are so stiff and heavy it reminds me of my first pair of Levi's in the 60s.

I remember those 17oz. style denim from when I was a kid in the '60's.
JC Penney!!! or Sears Roe"bucks".
Levi's no one in the schools parents could afford them.!!!

Brand new with the tags still on them and unwashed they would stand up by themselves.
No starch needed. LOL

I remember that the Levi's back then would shrink the first time you washed them. You had to buy them big and "guesstimate" how much they would shrink so they would fit.

My family does the "Secret Santa" thing for Christmas so we don't end up buying everyone a useless $5 present or go broke trying to buy everyone something a bit nicer. I drew the name of one of my 20-ish nephews. Last night during the gift exchange I jokingly told him that I had bought him a nice shirt as his gift. He goes "But Uncle Steve, I've already got a nice shirt." After telling him I was kidding I told him to send me a list of what he really wanted and didn't get and I would pick from that. He'll still be surprised, but will also get something he wants.

Me? I got a nice shirt...

Personally, jeans and a t-shirt worked for me as a kid in the 1960s. They still do.

Well I'll chime in here and say it's not what's on the outside that impresses us but what sort of a person you are on the inside

Sorry but all that strutting about trying to look something you're not certainly wouldn't turn me on.

of course you're right, Joan - I'm assuming as much myself..
but when you're out with someone who has made an effort to look good
- you want to be up to the mark, so to speak..

- if a lady looks real smart/cool then it shows she cares about her appearance - nothing more..
- us guys forget that, sometimes.. it's not just a come-on..
- but knowing that you're looking good makes you feel good, and others notice when you've made the effort..

- like the slim ties meself, John - and a tight Windsor knot in a slim silk tie always looks cool - even if it hangs loose..
- and the Mod look was just so cool - especially first time round - those neat suits, etc..

used to cruise on my Lambretta in a parka wearing a smart Carnaby Street suit underneath for the clubbing..
- great days - cool days, too..

- nowadays it's all about comfort, but not at the expense of style, hopefully..
- jeans and a T-shirt is fine - and great for both work and play..

- but given a free-reign what would you like to wear, just to make yourself feel cool..
- functionality is fine, and comfort is paramount - but fashion sense begins with wanting to look good..
- some good advice coming through, you guys..

Mods?? Bah..........at least us Rockers rode REAL bikes, like BSA's, Trumpy's and Notones. Next you'll be telling us you traded the Lambretta for a Vespa.

Back to the real world. I have found a great site in yank land that has brilliant stuff, especially jeans and shirts. Cost me around $160AUD for 2 pairs of Levi 505's, a nice pair of Wrangler jeans and a nice shirt to boot, and that was delivered to my front door.
The Aussie dollar is pretty much on par with the greenback.

Oh yes, the place i got them from. Western Wear, Cowboy Boots, Wrangler Jeans, Levis Jean, Justin Boot, Ariat, Corral Boots, Cowboy Hats, Miss Me Jeans, Work Boots, and Cowboy Shirts by Sheplers Primarily western clothing, but Levi's from Woolies, Harrods or Sheplers are still Levi's. Lots of variety to choose from that doesn't look western. Also pricing can be changed to lots of different currencies, including British pounds, at the top of the home page.

I just wear what I think looks good on me and is comfortable. I also usually wait until my clothes are pretty worn before buying new shirts and jeans. Nothing overly expensive. Per item usually just $15-25. Any more than that is just a waste to me. Unless it's a jacket or shoes or something formal. Although lately I've been eyeing mens magazines to get feel for something more stylish or GQ. Stuff that's somewhat conforming to the body, but too much.
