the guys look cool - some look they tried too hard..

- so where are you at fashion-wise, man..

how do you see yourself - you got it..??

it's not just the ladies who wanna look the part..

About once every 10 years I will go to a clothes store, I buy one of everything between the door and the checkout and that's be done for another decade

I only buy clothes or shoes when the clothes or shoes I have start getting holes in them. Then it's only just one of what I need. Fashion's for girls.

Like everyone else here..............I only buy when I discard the old worn out clothes.
I have jeans and tennis shoes that are older than some of the members here.


Edit: I figured if I keep it long enough it will become fashionable again!

I TRY to stay up on what's current, but I don't have many people to impress. If it looks good and is on sale, I'll get it but I've never been able to justify shopping at a store like Buckle or Nordstrom.

You know...all this being hip and up to date is completely overrated. Be yourself and be comfortable about it.
over the years I learned: A girl will never like you just for the cloth/brand names you wear. Develop your own personality and some self esteem and you get the girl, even if you come in rags
Just being another copy of those fashion clowns in tv doesn't get you anywhere. Besides those guys are getting paid to wear that stuff. There's nothing wrong with a pair of old jeans or sneakers, as long as they're clean.
I stopped buying clothes when i used up all the space in my dresser. Now it's all about replacing the stuff that's beyond saving.

As far as fashion goes though, I'm the type who could care less if its in style, or what anyone thinks about my attire.
I kinda have the attitude, I do what I feel comfortable with and the heck with what everyone else is doing.

I broke down and bought 3 pairs of jeans last week.

Old ones had no holes and maybe a year old. Like new.

Went to the doctor two weeks ago. Weighed in and I had lost 23 pounds in the last last four months.

I was wondering why those barely broke in year old jeans kept wanting to fall off?

I'm not into fashion. I grew up on a farm, so I learned young that it isn't what's "cool" or "fashionable"....it's about comfort.
Everything I wear is comfortable, even if it doesn't look great.

Like most of you, I am into comfort when I dress. I am 6 ft tall and about 240 lbs. Those stats could be for an Outside Linebacker on alot of NFL teams, but I am not put together quite like they are. I have bulges in places that they don't have places. I used to go clothes shopping and be frustrated at not finding things in my size. About ten years ago, I started shopping on the internet. It is easy, my size is always there and the prices are about the same. Sometimes I can even find free shipping. I usually buy from a place that has a store in my town so that I can return it if there is a problem. It works out great, I highly suggest it.

Like most others here, i'm a jeans and Tshirt or shirt man.
Don't care about brands, as long as they fit. Must add, i do have a preference for western shirts, hence i do wear Wrangler or Ely type shirts a lot.

Wearing this one now, with black Wrangler jeans. (to match my black Akubra).

guess the old denim jeans and T-shirt is the most prevalent, these days..

in my old 60's days, I used to wear some really crazy outfits - necklaces, armbands, headbands, sandals - loved that crazy paisley stuff, I wore it all the time - silk shirts - even skirts in moments of crazy loon-outs - hippy madness, I guess - but it did look super-cool at the time..

- what do you like to wear nowadays..??
- never mind all that functionality bullshine - what you gonna wear to look good in, guys..

- so, get on down to your favourite internet clothing store and shop around - send in your piccies..
- what you gonna pick up for yourself, to impress the girl (wife), mates, etc..??
- yeah, I know we gotta take age into consideration - us older guys won't be wearing some of these swish catwalk outfits..

- I live out in the country - small town - I'm 60+ 5ft 10ins - slim, 11stone - for what it's worth, so how 'bout tweed, casual etc..
- 'spose the county set round here regard themselves as the height of cool, but I have other notions..
- I'm a city guy at heart and like to get out in the lights occasionally..

currently wearing pale blue and white pin-striped Church shirt, non-descript gold cuff-links - no other "jewelery" apart from Silver/Gold watch bracelet.. straight-leg DenimCo Boot Fit jeans - 'bout half-inch turn-up - waxed Anatomic pigskin lace-up shoes..
- feels OK to wear for messin' around in, but very "ordinary" - you get me..??

- how 'bout something for that night out with the good lady
- say a smooth, quiet restaurant.. low lights - jazz..??

This is the kind of jeans I'm talking about. These bad boys are made of 17oz hand woven denim. Made on American and British handlooms they bought of us a century ago.
They are so stiff and heavy it reminds me of my first pair of Levi's in the 60s.

Like you BM I went through many fashion stages. I was a sort of mod on the tail end of that, then grew my hair and wore platform soles and loon pants with kaftans and beads etc.
I was a wee bit too old for punk and I certainly didn't go for the rather silly bondage trouser look. Piercings aren't good on a social worker and I was thinning so a mohican was out.
However there was a thread to punk fashion that harked back to mods so I went that way. Smart jackets with pencil thin knitted ties and my beloved jeans.

I'm pretty much wearing that look still at 56. Right now I'm wearing a sort of orange/terracotta canvas shirt (that I've had for years)over a pale blue fruit of the loom t shirt, some Edwin's Selvage jeans (14oz) and some Fly suede boots.

The good thing about traditional cut jeans is that there basically a work garment and consequently very comfortable.

Oh and for a special night out, say to a restaurant etc. I don't think you can beat a dark suit and tie and some black oxford shoes. The only problem I have is with ties.
Most ties these days are too broad for my taste.
What I've done is scour the charity shops and I now have a selection of thin ties, some with regular ends and others with square cut ends.

Cargo pants and a (dark) t-shirt year round. I just change between cargo pants and cargo shorts when it gets cold or warm. Jacket when necessary.

Comfort and functionality > fashion.
