Need advice on video card upgrade nvidia 9500gt vs radeon hd 5670

right now i have a 9500gt and a 1080p monitor. im thinking of getting this Buy the XFX Radeon HD 5670 1GB DDR5 PCIe, DVI & HDM Bundle at TigerDirect.ca

im looking for something around 100$

my question is how much better is the hd5670 vs the 9500gt and is there something better i could get for the same price. my psu is 450 watts btw

Answering your last question first then the answer is a resounding yes! For $100 you can get a much better card but it will all depend on what power supply you have in your case. Make, model, watts and more importantly how many amps are on the 12v rail.

If you don't know then can you get the make and model from the side of the psu. To do that just take side of computer and look for something that resembles the pic below. Its the white label like the one shown.

this is a better value, im just worried about space with a 2 slot card that is why i initially choose a single, but i need to take a look at my pc and take some inside measurements forsure

@Krispy only difference in the cards you chose the 5670 doesnt need a extra power for it to work but the 5750 requires a 6 pin power conect just in case you were wondering that is a better card but i think it is recommended 500 watt atleast for the 5700 series to work

Your mileage may vary, Try it with your current system.
If it's flaky, by all means upgrade PSU. If not...

ok i just looked at my two boxes the hd 5770 and the hd 6870 the hd 5770 minimal 450 watt you're in good shape the hd 6870 500 watt minimal so you should be alright

as far as 350 watt go probally pushing it but hey must be a hell of a tough psu

i know a 450watts is perfect for the 5xxx radeon series and 450 fermis, was more worried about space but i measured it out and a double slot card should fit just fine(ive got a good 9 inch length clearence and the extra slot)

im looking to maby get this Buy the Sparkle GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) FPB 1GB GDDR PCIe at TigerDirect.ca

looks good for the price point

It'll likely die eventually, but in the mean time it works. Don't forget quality often determines a PSU's performance.
