Oh Joy!, Trying to organize my files....

I've got 14 physical hard drives attached to my PC and decided tonight that I was going to organize all of my media files so that certain shows and documentaries aren't spread out across the drives. this way I can clean up my libraries and make it easier to find stuff.

It's gonna take a while.
Sometimes I envy the people that only have 1 hard drive in their machine.

Guess I'll make me some coffee since I have to drive my brother and father to the airport at 4:30am, it's 12:47am right now.

Have fun. I consider it inconvenient just to backup my data and computer each month, and to backup to my offsite backup.

everyone should have a backup drive.

Why? 2nd internal drive isn't a "real" backup, unless you want them to bundle an external USB drive with the machine.

for your very important files you should have 3 copies, 1 on the computer, 2 removable or external USB/e-SATA/1394 with 1 of them offsite and rotated with the other one every 2 weeks or every month.

That's pretty much what I do (except that I use 2 travel drives) . . . and I thought I was being too OCD, but I get a lot of comfort from it, after having had multiple hard drive crashes and lost data over the years!
