If you can find then any more it is s toss up between a HD 3850 and HD 4670, with the edge to the HD 4670 if for no other reason than it uses less power than the HD 3850. Doubt you can find a 3850 anywhere anymore and the 4670 is becoming rare as well (Newegg for example doesn't have them any more). If you decide to go for one check any local shops or try ebay.

Tiger Direct still has the HIS 4670. It is $109 after rebate. The same card as pci-express is only $40 which pisses me off. Also they make a PCI yes PCI ATI 5450 so why not for APG?

Mostly out of curiosity, do you get adequate driver support under Windows 7 for the A8V Deluxe? Or is that machine still on XP?

(I have an A8V Deluxe, but it's not in service. It was replaced with an A8N-SLI to give PCI-E graphics slots. Than one, with an Athlon64 X2 4400+, is still serving a friend.)

That PSU looks like it should be more than adequate for anything that'll fit in that motherboard. I was curious why you didn't list any cards from Newegg, but I see that they're out of stock on all AGP cards that are DX10 or newer.

The Promise Fasttrak Raid Controller was a F*** pain in my A**. However after months of surching for drivers and reading I was able to put together all of the latest digitaly singed drivers together for the controller. I posted them on the fourm and the link is at the bottom. I then installed two Western Digital Cav Black 640GB in a raid 0. Installed windows 7 pro x64 and windows boots in about 4-6 seconds after post.

Also I put the last bios on which is a bata from 2007 I think. The only thing that sucks is the long post time.

I think that the same one I have: Athlon64 X2 4400+

What I want to do is play bue ray videos on my tv with it.

The VIA sata controler has two open sata I ports. Could that be used for a ble ray drive?

I haven't used a board with a SATA I port for a while, but I believe it'd be OK. A 12X BD-ROM gives a data rate of 54 MB/s (432 mb/s), while SATA I is 1500 mb/s. Bluray video would be much lower.

That sounds good to me about the Sata I ports. I have one slot open in my case and that blu ray player will do nicely with the HIS 4670. Its only 5.1 audio with the HIS 4670 but I will just use the optical out for 7.1.

All I have left to hope for this computer is maybe some more PCI cards. Its life is not at a end yet. I will put the next Windows OS on it and what ever follows that since I have every single digitaly singed driver for the mother board for x64 bit (since Microsoft is such a A** about have signed drivers). If Microsoft would just ease up on that it would lower IT's blood pressure alot. At least allow people who have Windows Pro and up to have the option.

One more question. What was the best APG GPU ever made? You never here anyone say which one was the best. Just a thought.

I don't know. I think that the most powerful AGP card I owned was an nVidia Geforce 6800. The most powerful AGP card may have been based on the ATI Radeon HD 3850. I think that the next model up, the 3870, was the most powerful single GPU card in the 3000 series. (Unless there was a 3890, which would have been an uprated 3870.)
