Weekly Updates

Have weekly Windows updates slowed down recently?
Maybe in anticipation of the release of SP1?

I haven't had any updates in the last 3 or 4 weeks - in fact last one was 13/01/2011.

Windows Updates are usually monthly not weekly, on the second Tuesday of the month. There may be other times if there's the need for an out of sequence update needed.
If you have Microsoft Security Essentials installed they come daily, whenever a new def update is available.

I uninstalled MSE and by the end of the day optional Updates was pushing through a full MSE installer. Is this a mass Update for those missing an AV, or only something new for subscribers who uninstall?

Yup ....whole nine yard with new definition of AV .

My last update was 18.01.2011(update for windows defender).Since that it's saying that Windows is up to date.

I received the usual monthly updates on the 11-1-2011 then every day since then it's just been the update defs for MSE. The next monthly updates aren't due until next Tuesday, haven't seen any notice yet of what there will be or how many.

It's OK Jan I've had the notice now, just hadn't got anything when I posted, there are apparently going to be 12, 3 Critical and 9 Important.

I just posted in the news thread about this. The only updates I have gotten lately was for MSE. I thought the fact that I had SP1 loaded might be the reason.

Yes there was quite a few updates, but unlike yours mine were all x64 (the office one was 32bit though.) 60 something megabytes in total.

Just been notified that update for Microsoft Silverlight is aviability. Size is 6.0Mb.

I had to manually search for updates to see the Silverlight update but I did not download it. I can't see any reason why I should download it nor find a use for it. My previous updates however, screwed over with MSE. It said my copy is not genuine or something. Followed the steps for resolving it and voila! Problem solved. But I uninstalled it after a few days and installed a trial version of Kaspersky (I had this sudden urge to install it and found it rewarding when Kaspersky found this http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/144664-look-what-i-found.html yesterday).

edit and by the way, this is my my 143rd post. Just in time for Valentines in some parts of the globe. Our Feb 14 was yesterday so this post just missed Valentines. Let me just say this once, I love you guys!
