Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) Release Candidate (RC) on February 10, 2011

Hmm... I had either the beta or post beta installed and decided to try the leaked RC Escrow and was able to do so without uninstalling. I just ran the exe and it updated, which makes me think that a RC via WU is possible

RTM, not RC, unless MS has changed. You will have to download from MS, remove beta and install RC.

Since I have been beta testing this has been the case. Last beta I had of IE9, I had to remove to install updated.
If things have changed with MS, that's news to me.

That's for sure! The only thing seen for any beta since the first updates for 7 is the prerec for the SP1 beta found in important updates. When IE 7 and later 8 were first in beta that was a separate item for them at the time.

You may install without uninstalling some newer versions but again, that is illadvised, but it won't come from WU until RTM.

Here I will simply download to save and then run the set up once the beta is gone. That insures no problems with any overwrite. I suspect the installer however will see it as an update if you don't remove the beta first while that would still be the better move.

I agree and also don't care. I will wait for Final as add-ons I need don't work.
I tried the Beta and it is a lot faster but need my add-ons.

If it makes you feel better, I can assure all those who like the beta (and the leaked build) that they'll like the RC even more. I don't think I ever saw IE perform so good, lol; even the stuff it "kinda" failed to render properly in the previous builds now work like a charm. And as soon as I installed 9.0.8073.6003 i stopped experiencing bugs and random crashes upon startup or when using certain accelerators

how about Performance? RAM? does it slow the pc as much as with IE8? and how is it if i watch youtube or play online games compaire to ie8 ?

Is there any startup delays when firing up the 9.0.8073.6003 version? I have the formally released Beta and while it is fast etc, startup times are still slow. Could this be because I have a lot of shortcuts on the Fav Bar? Does that make a difference?

Ok, dumb question. I have not used IE in a very long time, switched to just about everything besides it so now you guys have my curiosity, what's so special about IE9 that has everyone excited?
