Windows 7 Ultimate created problems on my HP Laptop

Hi, my HP Laptop Notebook was working just fine until I instaled Windows 7 Ultimate. I had already had Windows 7 preinstalled.

When I type, my keyboard strokes end up in different places and also when i browse the internet, the keyboard cursor often selects other functions. It seems to select a function key that highlights text and then deletes. I've noticed this in several browsers. It occures in all programs, including word, browswers, even here as I type, so I have been unable to isolate the problem.


I have run Norton Virus and keep my system protected, so there's no current virus plauging my computer.

Any ideas. I've gone to Windows Update to download the windows update drivers but not sure if that's going to fix the problem. It's so annoying and is an itnermittent problem.

any suggestions? I'm at a loss, I'm not new to computers... but this one has me confused and very frustrated. Thanks in advance.

Norton doesn't kill/protect from Malware though, it only finds run-of-the-mill viruses, download and install Malwarebytes and scan with it.

Yes ..if you have Norton Internet Security ....

You might have to reinstall the mouse & key board drivers ..
I don't see why it's messed up..U already had wds 7 , no matter what V .. it was ....
You 've got to do something to it .... ??? Think ...??? INFECTED ...?

It sounds like an HP utility that tries to add all kinds of functionality to the web is causing an issue. You can try removing it, but honestly, anytime I have a family member buy an HP laptop, I wipe it clean so all the junkware is gone. My wife has a Pavilion dv4, and it runs SO much better after I did a clean install.

I agree to uninstall HP softwares, in particular some keyboard management/enhancement...then if you locate the prob try to reinstall the HP soft that might control some Keys as for DVD Quickplay
