Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) Release Candidate (RC) on February 10, 2011

I downloaded the X64 file from the above link and clicked on it. It started the install process and then asked for a reboot. I rebooted and the installation process finished

I opened up both versions and checked "About Internet Explorer" on each of the two versions of IE

This is what they said

IE 9 Version 9.0.8080.16413 - Update Versions: RC
IE 9 Version 9.0.8080.16413 64-bit Edition - Update Versions: RC

Is this correct:D

Just verifying:D

Don't know if it's been mentioned or not as I just woke up, but you don't need to uninstall 6003. It updates right over top

Hey...z3r010!!!

Thanks for the link!

I absolutely love how it works! I still have that problem with the space left empty at the top of the screen, but I can live with it. And, I love the minimalism!!!

Edit:

I had to uninstall the previous version through "Uninstall updates" and then installed the RC. I don't know why, but with the previous version on, it reported "cannot download file" (which I assume refers not to the installer but to the IE9 exe file. Anyways, it works as is now and I absolutely love it! Nice job by the IE folks at MS.

@1360 I have uninstalled previous IE9b and tried this Windows7 version in my Vista laptop it works great, I don't think it's a must as ie9 have stated. I prefer fresh start, that's all.

So is there a way to get the url stack list (the back button recent history (The little down triangle next to the forward button on IE 8)) in IE9?

That feature is ESSENTIAL for backing out of a LOT of webpages that "trap" you. I use it daily and it's not visible on the IE9 screen shots...

I appretiate minimalism but when it glaringly interferes with daily use of such an important tool... we may be heading into Mac territory here.

Well not yet, I guess (I have a feeling that they aren't going to fix .gif speeds). I can't tell any difference in speed, but so far the javascript bug where pages didn't finish loading the graphics after a while hasn't appeared. Sites still say you are using IE7, though.

This is scary.

Hmmm...the Gmail page renders a bit oddly. With "include updated web lists from MS" enabled under Compatibility views, the gmail page looks odd. Particularly the "Archive" button which appears in very heavy bold. Also, the text rendered is odd too- somewhat compressed. In the earlier version, I had to check the able to web lists option and things settled down. That does not seem to be the case this time. I hope this gets fixed. There is one other thing I noticed - this version lags just for that one fraction of a sec more than the previous version and that is noticeable (at least to me). I do like the option to show the tabs under the search box. It is useful to have even if I don't use it often.

Edit: As far as I can see, all pages/ sites that I have visited are rendered well...except for Gmail!
