You failed to fill in your System Specs, but on many PC's (especially Dell's) if the motherboard chipset drivers were not installed many devices including the sound device or card will not be detected.

Does creative have a 64 bit win 7 driver? if not you can probably use the vista driver if you install in the compatibility mode.

Hi, it is not a DELL it's a ASUS Motherboard Maximus Formula, maybe I should try like you said install driver for that motherboard but was thinking Win 7 found it when I install it.....

I don't think the Audigy 2 (in PCI slot) works in Win7, at least not x64.

A year ago when I first installed Win7 Pro x64 I had planned to use my Creative Audigy 2 card (PCI) in my new ASUS P5Q3 board. First, I disabled the "high definition audio" in the BIOS of the board (for the onboard Realtek sound chip). But like you I was unable to get the Creative Audigy 2 card to either get recognized by the Win7 installer or have the driver install properly.

Fortunately, I had a Creative X-Fi Titanium (PCI-e x1) sound card in my other machine which was still running WinXP Pro x32, and which I really didn't care about. I'd actually planned to use the optical digital audio connector on that X-Fi card but never really made use of it. Turns out it was for "output only" and not for "input" as I thought.

That other machine had a SuperMicro C2SBX board in it, which also had Realtek onboard sound. So I removed the Create X-Fi card from the PCI-e slot, enabled the Realtek onboard sound, installed the Realtek HD Audio Codec driver on that machine, and was off and running (still under WinXP Pro x86).

Then I removed the Audigy 2 (PCI) card from the ASUS P5Q3 machine I was getting going with Win7 Pro x64, installed the X-Fi (PCI-e x1) card, and once again installed Win7 x64 from scratch.

Bingo, presto! Card recognized perfectly by Win7, and up-to-date driver software obtained from Creative's sight.

I think you may just have to give up on that legacy Audigy 2 card in your Win7 x64 machine. Go with an X-Fi Titanium (or other variant). They're not expensive and you won't be disappointed.

Regardless of whether you use the official driver or one of the ones sygnus21 linked too, if the chipset drivers are installed and the card is still not being detected all is not lost. Grab this if you don't have something similar,

7-Zip

and use it to extract the driver file. Once that is done then try installing the driver manually through Device Manager,

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/97061-driver-install-device-manager.html

when you get to step 4, point it to the extracted folder and from there point it to the WDM folder (Drivers\wdm). That should get the driver installed and then if it was the modded driver (support pack), you should then be able to run it as normal to install any of the rest of the bits you may want.
