Im looking for a great screen recording program. Any help would be awesome.
My Computer
- OS
- Windows 7 x64
I tried that a while ago. The quality was pretty dismal. The acid test is text on the screen - e.g. a Wikipedia website. Try that and you will see.Anyone use the free CamStudio? It's a SourceForge project released under the GPL.
To tell you the thruth, I do not remember the details. It was at least a year ago that I tried it. But if you find it to be better these days, your report would be interesting - especially if you have a chance to compare it with the Microsoft Expression Recorder 4.Thanks, I'll try that. I did use it to record opening some folders in Windows Explorer and it looked pretty good.
When you tried it, did you also install the latest video codec they provide?
I've used it before, but in order to get sufficient quality the file size is huge. At work, I use WebEx (or it might be GoToMeeting), and it does a really solid job. I've been pretty happy with the output. I use it for video tutorials at work for setting things up.Anyone use the free CamStudio? It's a SourceForge project released under the GPL.
That is pretty neat and the quality is very good. Too bad the program is not stable. I think it could be very useful for tutorials. If you have a look at my tutorial, Windows Search - Configure and Use, I used Adobe Captivate for the Flash sequences.
Although I must point out that it crashed alot on me, even with the latest patches, and I'm not all too happy with the quality of the output in some places.
I too have been looking for alternatives...
I also used it to record a friends desktop when he said he had intermittent flickering. Although it wasn't the free version.
