Windows 7 Media Center works just fine for me I always wanted to get a sub but I have an impact back surround speaker which has an additional 2 10 inch woofers and 2 1inch Euro soft dome tweeters behind my couch, Plenty of bass and volume with the Studio Monitor Polk 10B speakers which also have 10 inch woofers and 2 8 inch passive radiators and the tweeters. Digital sound with fiber optics through the Receiver. 600 plus cd's ripped to hard drive for easy access. Getting a little expensive with all the toys you can add to a AV Center like tape transport and decoders etc, check out Computer Audiophile | High-End Audiophile Music Servers for some systems that are out of this world.

Thanks for the link. I love the sound of my system but I can improve it greatly, a friend of mine is a recording studio sound engineer and said it sounds good but thats to normal people :) I aksed him what he meant and he said I could improve it 10 fold with abit of help from him, however a bit of help from him would mean having an extensive bank balance :(

Very nice build, but I wonder why you went with the Antec 300 case. I have 3 of them at work and they are great as a budget case...but this doesn't look like a budget build to me.

It looked like it had a lot more room in the store lol. It's got a lot better layout over my old case and I have somewhat of a small area so I needed something that wasn't too big but big enough to still keep air moving. So far it's done just that ;) thanks for the pic edit Brink, wasn't paying much attention when I posted it lol

Is the B3 the replacement for the Sandy Bridge issue . I almost built a new $2000.00 system with the new processor and the new P67 chipset but said to myself do I need it over my E8400 or even the E6750 C2D and decided to wait for the next great leap in computing history and by then the next version of Windows will be out and I will have a reason to build a new system. I have even considered going the Laptop route but one i would have to have would run close to probably $4-5 grand, but get rid of 2 desktops. Nice setup from all members of the Forums by the way.

Yes the B3's are the fixed motherboards for Sandy Bridge. Some places have been getting limited quantities for about a week now and should be out fully by April I believe.

Looks good, but as you say a bit extreme, like lapping the CPU. I think a good cooler and properly applied thermal compound will usually suffice for most. It's that itch to do more that got you :)

Lapping the CPU and cooling block is extreme? And here was me about to use a CNC mill to get their surfaces flat within micrometers... :p

Case temp is 23.2c and AI Suite reads cpu at 27.3c with me surfing and running tv show with media center and before the lapping of the cpu and the heatsink system ran about 5-7 degrees warmer with about the same case temp and software running, plus the case fans are down on low ( very quite cannot hear it from 2- 3 foot away) and the cpu and the back case fans are on the AI suite. Cpu was off being flat and true pretty bad.
