Jumplist Launcher - Create Custom Jump Lists

I get the following error whenever I try to create a jump list with this tool:

"Couldn't create the Jumplist. Please wait for the next update to fix this issue!"

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 version. I also notice that the Max.Jumplist Items is greyed out with a default setting of 1 and it doesn't allow me to change it. So not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Any suggestions?

Thanks

PJStyles

That's odd. I'm running it on W7 Ultimate x64 as well, and it works fine for me. Have you tried a uninstall/reinstall?

5. Known Issues
---------------
- Changing the maxmimum number of Jumplist-entries changes the number of recently used files all across Windows 7
This can't be fixed at the moment because both numbers are represented by only one number in the registry
- The maximum number of Jumplist-items can't be read from the registry on some computers
- Jumplists can't be created on some computers both problems need further investigation

The last point in the readme.txt file is of note. No idea why it won't work on mine. Guess I will have to wait for a new release.

PJ, right click the taskbar and click properties. On the Start Menu tab, do you have "Store recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar" checked?

You cannot create a jumplist with categories if it isn't checked.

Honestly, I'd prefer to leave mine unchecked. I don't want to see my recently opened documents. But if I don't check it, I can't have categories with the jumplist launcher. :/

I'm wondering if there's a way to "Enable" the recently opened items, but prevent them from showing up.

EDIT: Just noticed, the latest version turns this on for you when you try to create a jumplist. So if you download the latest version you should have no issues.

OMG Hedge! Love this thing!! I was hating on the W7 start menu for not having classic style available anymore, but this has settled everything.

Question: I don't understand, or misunderstand, how to make separate/multiple jump lists in the start menu. I have one set up nicely for my various apps, but I would like to make another jump list for other things unrelated. Could you, or someone else explain clearly how to setup multiple instances of jump lists.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas!

You mean two icons on the taskbar? Just create another folder with another instance of the program and pin that one. They'll be independent of each other.

Is there a way to change the icon that displays in the task bar once the application is pinned?

When I run 7.2, I click save and nothing comes up asking you to "create jumplist"; so I can't save it. What should I do first? Do I have to run the launcher or can I have a icon on the taskbar to run a jumplist from?
What version are you using? John

Sure you can. Simply right click on the pinned icon. Then right click JumplistLauncher. Open up properties and you can easily change it from there.

I don't think so as you can only pin a program in your taskbar once if I'm not mistaken.

I tried making a copy of the JumpList Launcher folder and placing it in a different place on my PC, when I opened the JumpList Launcher from there, it showed another icon. However, I could not pin that. Maybe you can just set it to autostart minimized.

However, you'll have a highlight indicating that it's simply minimized.

I am still having the problem with jumplist-launcher, that the button that says "create jumplist" does show up. Do I have to run it as a administrator?\
