It really depends on what you are trying to fix. Just last night I had to
repair a MBR after a drive migration. Original repair disk, SP1 installed.
Worked flawlessly.

For repairs if Win7 becomes unbootable, you'd continue to use your DVD Repair console or Repair CD to run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html.

I'm sure that one will be able to purchase SP1 on a media only DVD fairly reasonably, but is it possible to purchase a media only DVD with SP1 already combined, so slipstreaming is not necessary?
